No. It was bullshite then and bullshite now. It's a real virus but the control the govt has seized over us is dumb and over stepping the line. If anything I am more mad about the damn virus and what has happened now than when it first started.

My opinion has changed. I think we started ignoring science and are relenting to lazy arse people.
When this all started, I agreed with shutdowns. We didn't know what the hell this thing was, how to fight it, how deadly it would be, how quickly it would spread. NYC got absolutely hammered last spring and we couldn't have that spreading around the country. Mitigation was essential.
But then, as we learned more about the virus, nothing much changed.
Schools, for the most part, remained closed despite evidence that open schools weren't the hot beds for transmission we feared. This is a big one for me...a lot of kids, even good students, are failing classes through no fault of their own and teachers are still crying like schools are death traps
We kept businesses shutdown for far too long without any financial support. If you shut them down, it's the government's responsibility to provide a soft landing. Instead, we essentially killed thousands of businesses and livelihoods. Here again, it made sense to shutdown the first couple of months while we developed an understanding of what we were dealing with but there was absolutely no adjustments made as we did learn more.
We did lose half a million Americans to this shite. This winter we were experiencing a 9/11 a day in American lives lost. We allowed basic mitigation techniques like mask-wearing to become political and somehow controversial (driven for political points). Our government let us down, at all levels.
I'm more optimistic these days. Numbers are coming down precipitously. We're vaccinating well over 1M citizens a day. The Biden admin is pushing for relief for businesses and impacted employees, as well as acquiring enough vaccine doses to have everyone who wants to be vaccinated vaccinated by this summer. The CDC is expected to release school guidance (for opening) very soon (frick teachers unions). I think there's little doubt we'll be done with this by the end of the year (despite what Fauci says, who is underpromising in order to overdeliver).

You mean back when many experts predicted ~250k deaths and people called them hyperbolic, yet now we stand at 500k deaths?
As others have said, it was anywhere from 2-4 million BY THE SUMMER, not in 11 months.
Also, whenever you have a test as powerful and as misused as the PCR, you're going to find cases and, thus, deaths everywhere.

Ell, I salute you. But don’t feel so confident once the next one is unleashed That’ll be a barnstormer in time for 2028.

The media just ignored it and our leaders went into knee jerk mode while trying to scare people like you with what was going on in Italy. And it worked. What happened in NYC was a direct result of Cuomo ignoring the science and things we already knew to be fact.

Thanks, Mr. Epidemiologist.

I've noticed you never actually debate. You just throw around insults whenever I post. I'm sure your excuse will be that I'm not worth it or something, but you've never even tried. I actually cede a lot of points because, unlike your belief, I'm actually pretty much in the middle. I think you're just a blowhard who doesn't like having their bubble popped by someone with knowledge.

So those people shut down the economy and were selfish?
C’mon man
When you’re 70 you’re going to want to be treated like every other human. You deserve that.
You shouldn’t have to live as if “well I lived a good life” and the world shouldn’t still consider you part of our population.
Your comparisons are pathetic.
Fwiw everyone deserves to be cared for regardless of age. Your life isn’t any more important and I think that’s where you’re delusional.
Are things blown out of portion, yes, but it’s not some fake virus. I don’t watch the news, I just go by what I see daily. Should we have a better handle on this by now? Yes. Should we be able to open up more, yes?

I still think it is a dangerous lab created Chinese virus, but you can't cancel peoples income due to that. Too many people suffering from COVID and from the government.

They are currently treating school-aged kids as though they are worthless or merely political objects.
Are we concerned about the increased suicides and ODs in younger age groups?
Public health is not this one thing. There is a reason why previous "expert opinion" said most everyone, when healthy (not sick), should live life as normal, otherwise shite gets worse.
And preventing infections in the young puts the disease burden on the old.

Seems like the cruise chips were a better source of info than any “expert” from the beginning. Do you seriously not see the bias in our media and which doctors they chose to give the spotlight to? I understand the small sample size and the mocking but give me a break. The media literally killed trust in the medical community and that’s extremely dangerous.

Fauci is a epidemiologist. His opinion has changed 100 times since last February.
Yet there are others who aren’t paid to regurgitate political policy and were actually saying the same things I have always said. They relied on the studies on masks and from the cruise ships and their experience with other coronaviruses. It doesn’t take a scientist to understand stats and to read a study and understand what it means.
I’m sorry you are so naive. I truly am. It sucks to be so easily manipulated.

It's all you deserve. You never debate with anyone on this board. You simply come in to a thread, spew your hypocritical bullshite, then flit away. Or if you do stay you do exactly what you're doing now.
I debate with many people on this and other boards, and enjoy doing so. I'm not going to bother with a political zealot like yourself.
Constant mockery is the only response you deserve.
