Your post made me tear up. I too have dated a woman for 15 yrs and I live in La and she in Ark. I love her so much that the travel never gets boring so I can relate to your situation but not the terrible loss of your love. I can't imagine losing my sweetheart. May God bless you and grant you healing.

Hare to hear that Jim.
It’s hard to put things in perspective when on the middle of pain and hardship. But I’m glad you took the chance to dance.

Like others, I'm so very sorry you're going through this. I know it hasn't been long since you lost your mother.
You should have NO regrets! I say this because the relationship you describe worked for both of you and led you both to a beautiful life together that was very real. Please remember that as you embark on this journey no one chooses.

I kept waiting for the plot twist revealing your dog passed away, given your personality, but then I was forced to realize your dog could not have attended an Ivy League school.
I’m sorry you have to go through this. I’m losing my old man now and watching him erode from cancer. Death will harden you, but it is painful nonetheless. At least you can take comfort in the fact she passed peacefully in sleep.

I am so so sorry….
The feeling of bewilderment when it is a sudden, unexpected death is overwhelming.
No one can say or do anything that helps much, but time will blunt the sharp edges of pain.
You had 15 years, keep those good memories close.
