Had to do that for my dog when he was having tummy troubles and both my dogs LOVED eating this.

Don't know if I'm right or wrong on this, but like people, animals know they are in pain, suffering etc. But, also, like people, they like to be around the ones they love and to do the things they enjoy even if they can't do them as well.
I'm not a fan of euthanasia quickly upon a poor prognosis. But I may be misguided on that. I just think there's a lot of quality time left and that dogs deserve to spend time being cared for - I think it makes them feel better. I had a little dog and up to the day he had to be euthanized I'd have his toy for him. I could only toss it about six inches from him but he always loved to play with it and chase it.
Maybe there are some therapeutic options for your dog that will increase the quality and quantity of his life, should the prognosis be a bad one.
I can never find much info on this but I've always wondered if cheap dog food affects incidence of cancer in dogs. Some people swear by very high grade food, even 'people food'. But I just don't know what the answer is. It sucks to see them suffer.

Cancer in Goldens is pretty common so I don't think it would matter too much, but I never fed them the really cheap stuff. Also, I could never get them to like some of the higher end stuff either and they settled on Pedigree.

That's awesome dude , hopefully he continues to improve. I dread the day my guy starts to have any health issues

Sad to say he passed away this morning about 1.5 hours ago. I noticed him going downhill fast and he started breathing heavy and convulsing. I tried to get him to the vet but he passed away while I was clearing out my truck to put him a blanket down and looking for his collar. I came back to get him and he was gone. At least he isn't in pain anymore.

He was a gorgeous dog and from your posts, sounds like he was very lucky to have such a caring master and lived a great doggie life.

I'm 55 and have had to put down a few dogs in my life. I'm embarrassed to say I cried every time. If I can give you any advise it's this: Go ahead and tell the vet to put him down. You get emotional and start wanting to do everything you can. All you get is a huge Vet bill and a pet that is going to die anyway. I've found that a few vets will give you this advise, but most are more than happy to let you run up a big bill when they know it will not affect the outcome.
