Do five minutes of research on famous singers and actresses etc. You'll find tons of actresses that tried the singer thing and quickly found that acting was the way to go.

She's been ultra successful with side projects. That's why she has money at all. Her singing sucked. Her net worth is similar to Jennifer Aniston. Imagine if she combined steady acting work with the other stuff that has made money for her?

For example, videos from Michael Jackson were "world premier"'d on MTV. They were huge, huge, events. If you want to blame anyone for fewer videos from black performers on MTV in the early days, blame black performers. They didn't make videos or embrace the concept of having to go shoot a video to promote your music.

Search for videos from the biggest names in music that were black. They were few an far between, whereas most every worthless US and British pop/electric/progressive/onehitwonder groups out there were making videos concomitant with their music recording.

MTV can't play what doesn't exist.
