Sorry to hear about your puppy, k.

I didn't read the last few pages after I saw your update so this may have already been addressed: you mentioned in your OP that your dog's brother was missing him while he was at the vets office.

I've read several times that dogs don't comprehend death like we do but they somehow recognize that a deceased dog they are close to is not coming back if they see his body before he is taken away.

That makes them accept the loss easier. Just a thought....

Sorry man. My parents will probably have to put my childhood dog down this year. Hes been great, and lived well past the average for his size, but I'm still dreading it.

Really sorry for you and I can relate. It is a tough grieving process.

We now have two dogs who are great company, not only for my family, but to each other.

the greatest injustice in nature is the fact that dogs only live 10-15 years.

Sorry, man. He had a great run and was a beautiful animal. I know it is going to be rough for you and his brother.

RIP Corky.

Now I have to figure out how to bury a 107-pound dog

It's tough. My dad had to bury our old Golden in the middle of winter up in NH. He ended up heating up a small area, took a pole digger thing, going relatively deep, and heating up a bunch of coal and dropping it down the smaller hole.

Sorry to hear about your dog, it's rough losing them, but atleast he's not in pain anymore and you don't have to stress over whether it was time or not.
