I am sorry Stout, I will never get over my first dog, I have his son now, his mom and his great niece. I really am already dreading when one goes and the little one has to deal with it.

You never have to get over it, man.

Sorry to hear Stout. At least you've had the past few weeks to really enjoy him. I had a dog get killed by a car and I would've given anything to have been given a 2 week warning

Sorry for your loss. I've had a male and a female golden also and had to put them both down at different times. Both were 13 y/o. Love those Goldens.

Take the love in your heart that you have for that dog and head over to the humane society and share it with caged animal seeking a forever home.

I'm 55 and have had to put down a few dogs in my life. I'm embarrassed to say I cried every time.

I have no children, so my dogs are my children. I have cried my eyes out when losing a pet. Call it what you will, but for some of us our pets are our children.

Stout, I had a similar scenario that I've mentioned before on this board. We had a lab who ended up having surgery, and only lived for 2 more months. She had cancer, and it returned quickly. I don't regret a dime I spent trying to save her life. She was faithful to me for 10 years, it was the least I could do in return.
My dog had a sibling her whole life, who was distraught after she died. He only live 7 more weeks after her and died. No known health issues for him, and we had him to the vet multiple times since her death and his.

Best of luck and sorry for your loss.

I just dropped him off at the vet to be cremated.

We had both of our labs I mentioned in my last post cremated. Got their ashes back and buried under their favorite tree. Went to a stone company and had their names carved in a stone and placed under the tree.

He's pretty depressed right now actually.

But I have a rescue I adopted a few years ago that will keep him company.

This is Corky and his brother Copper in the back

This is Winslow when I adopted him a while back
