Gun Violence and Youth/Young Adults

What the heck is going on with the kids these days.
We just had three 18 yr olds (from nice families) kill a 17 yr old in broad day light near a park full of kids /parents. Rumors are it was a drug or gun deal gone wrong but either way four families are ruined over a couple hundred dollars.
All three now are charged with Capital Murder in Texas so the death penalty comes in to play.
Can they not process the life affecting decisions.

Need to put birth control in marijuana and wait a few decades for this problem to be reduced.

“GUN VIOLENCE” is a term coined by the gun control folks to put the emphasis on the firearm. As if to imply that absent the gun this crime wouldn’t have happened.
Let’s instead ask why these youths committed a crime of violence. If they had beat the other kid to death would we call it Bat Violence? Knife Violence? Strangle Violence?

It would be nice to know the records of these 3, including school records, to see if there were warning signs.

Doesn’t sound like people who came from nice families.

Glorification of thug culture. Comes from movies, music, and video games.

Here's a top chart rap song for today... "E85", I'll post some lyrics.
Now, this isn't a choot'em up track- this is their idea of a love song.
quote:
Don't worry, I got you, I promise I won't hurt her
She talk like a snappin' turtle, sh? squirt like that shite fertile
Got drink in my cup, on Kirko, sh? move that arse in circles
Not sippin' on green, it's purple, we said that shite never hurt though
I just hope you down for me (I've been tryin', tryin')
'Cause this shite what it supposed to be (I lo-)
On the highway and I'm thinkin' that I love her
On the highway and I'm thinkin' there ain't no rubber
On the highway with my significant lover (it go)
(It go, it go)
You been runnin' the summer, you got a brand-new Hummer
We laugh all day like Dumber and Dumber
I'm 'bout to shoot my shot, she lovin' my jumper
My favorite outfit is her see-through romper (I lo-)

Rap is the lowest common denominator of music.

Rap is not music.

No. They say he was beaten to death with a bat. Or stabbed to death. It’s really the same thing. Just shorter. Would you rather, “he was shot to death with a gun?” That would make it better for you?

Boring answer, but it's a combination of the erosion of moral values and lack of impulse control.

I want you to familiarize yourself with the term “high time preference,” and then imagine how profoundly unintelligent you would have to be in order to hold this preference for every waking moment of your life.
