Homeowners insurance covers that, right?

Jesus, was it a 12ton unit? I had the entire furnace replaced on our 5T a year ago and it was only $2500.

What

Yes. It works. That’s if you’re careful. Been there and done that. I had my son watching the overflow pan.
I have a totally new A/C now.

It’s either low on Freon or bad air flow across the coils. Make sure the coils are clean inside and outside. Also change your air filter

Was it one of those easy financing, 0% interest for 48 months, and a unit protection plan type of scam from a flybynight AC company.

As of right now the OP last posted about 50 minutes after starting this yesterday.

Did he not make it past the quote for a weekend service call?

It’s only another month of 100°+ temps. Just wait it out like a man.

Brings back memories of Katrina. About 6 weeks without power in the boondocks.

It’s a Lenox 4T 16 seer full replacement. Indoor and outdoor because the older unit was from 96. The unit without installation is almost 12k.

Homeowners covering about 10k of it.

UPDATE

I bump this so you know if it happens to you.

This has been going on for a week where the unit will freeze up but when the techs got here everything tested fine…clean coils, no obstructions, good refrigerant, etc. It worked fine for a day or so but then would randomly freeze up. The last time it was 91 outside and we had it set for 76. We’ve had the service folks out here 3 times since Friday….

Turns out our internal blower fan was failing. It would work until it didn’t so it was hard to diagnose . The last trip they caught it not working and replaced it. We’re hoping that’s it.

hah the other day when it sort of had these water drops coming from the sky for about a minute with a minute or so of clouds, I thought to myself, damn, I never thought I would be so happy to see low 90s in my life.

And you will be charged for every service call, even though it's on them to diagnose the problem. Get the lube.

Maybe it’s just me but the worst heat is right after a 3pm afternoon deluge with the temp quickly going right back up to 90+. It’s like you are walking around in a freaking sauna
