If it’s just frozen, turn it to the fan setting and let it defrost. Make sure your drain line is not clogged. Just have to wait it out.

ETA I just went through a month AC problems with both of my units after a lightning strike. I feel your pain.

A $100 window unit from Lowes will be less than the weekend rate from the AC repair guy.
Make it a movie night, drag out the air mattresses, and the whole family sleeps in the living room.
At least that's how my OT Poor parents did it when ours went out.

ETA: if it's just the coils frozen, take the filter out of your return air, and melt all that ice with a hair dryer.

It’s only another month of 100°+ temps. Just wait it out like a man.

For helpful suggestions try the Home/Garden board.

Otherwise you've come to the right place.

Wife changes filters on the regular so it’s not that. Probably 30 days past the warranty for what will be the leaky coil….the one piece of manufacturing that they can’t figure out how to last longer than 5 years and 2 weeks.

Make sure you didn’t put the recent filter in backwards. That will mess a unit up.

Change your inside air filters like someone else said. It's crazy how's dirty some people let these get.

Did you have it set on 79? You have to give it a break sometimes plus it does wonders for the environment.

Reasons it could be:

Plugged filter
Collapsed return
Blower motor is dropping out
TXV- freon metering device is locked down
Indoor coil could be dirty and plugged
Most cases you have a leak and low on freon
