Name is a better indicator than logo. Sure it's an Arkansas college. I always assumed U of Arkansas student based on OPs name but after reading OP probably more like Little Rock CC.

Don't know how you can be stupid enough to not just plagiarize, but to plagiarize so lazily that you undeniably got caught doing it!

Ummm hard sciences is a little more difficult to prove plagiarism especially for a group lab report. Teacher is taking into consideration all your observations are done at the same time

For lab reports all your info and observations will essentially be the same. They just don't want everyones word for word to be the same.

Still even if you do 'cheat' and use someones paper, is it really that hard to alter the wording and word choice?
Its not that hard

I got caught doing something in the ball park, but not quite plagiarism. I got a grade reduction, had to write a paper, and was put on probation until I graduated. Another screw up meant expulsion

If you were dumb enough to turn in a 100% completely plagiarized paper from a semester before through an electronic anti plagiarizing system then I got nothing for you. You are going to get raped

This. Wtf OP, you deserve whatever you have coming. My instructors almost always went as far as to tell you what their thresholds were before reporting a paper they suspected of being plagiarized. If I went to turnitin and it detected more than 20%, I went back and reworded a few sentences. Run turnitin again, under 15%, submit, money. Maybe CC is a little more to your abilities considering you failed the base expecatations of someone who probably didn't expect much from you in the first place

I’m not reading this whole thread, and I don’t care if this gets ignored, but...

If you’d like to hear from someone who actually taught college students:

When one of our students was suspected of cheating, they were referred to an academic committee. I served on that committee. We had all graded thousands of papers, we knew what we were looking for, we had a pretty good read on the intention of the student - who doesn’t know how to cite properly vs who is trying to get away with something, etc

Now, I don’t know how it is at your school, but for what it’s worth, the only people called in front of the committee that I served on who did not have their hides tacked to the wall were the ones who came clean and asked for a second chance. Those people got to rewrite the paper, or retake the class, or got found guilty of a technicality but not an honor code violation. The ones who acted like we’re stupid? You can figure that one out.

ETA: I assumed LSU student, didn’t take note of the user name

You are definitely going to fail the class.

It is also possible you will be expelled. Review the student code of conduct for your university. It will explain the procedure at the hearing.

Well, he had a word for word paper that the same teacher graded the semester before. I'm on your side typically, but that kind of stupidity shows he's too dumb to be in college. Expulsion would actually be a kindness to him so he can start getting cash in digging ditches.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s too stupid for college. He may be. I graded a word for word copy once. It was from an active-duty soldier who was deployed and just trying to hold things together. That guy didn’t even make it to the committee, we had what was called a teachable moment.

This poster doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would willingly die for his country.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how anyone with a 3 digit IQ would not think through that the professor wouldn't recognize it a semester after he/she read it. And that doesn't even put the plagiarism software into account. He would have been caught in the 19th century doing this crap.

It just says to me he's dumb. Just talk a bunch of shite, "cite your sources", and if it's remotely well written you should get a B. If a professor like you checks out the source and call him out on it, all he has to do is say that was his interpretation of a passage he never read.

I didn’t say he was. Jeez. My point is doing one extremely stupid thing does not NECESSARILY mean he should not be in college.

I'm saying you have put forth the only exception to the rule. I'd let a guy off who was very willing to die for my personal freedom. I sure as hell wouldn't let off a shithead kid who was so cocky and/or stupid that I wouldn't notice a copy of something I read less than a year ago almost regardless of his circumstances. Literal life and death are the only excuses I'd accept.

Great, I’m glad you’re not teaching college.

And letting him off or throwing him out of college are not the only alternatives.

Same here. The woman I had to plead my case to was pretty receptive. Got probation for 2 semesters and still ended up with a C in the class.

I like the prior suggestion of doing the paper now. OP has until Tuesday to write something and solidify a story. It's better than trying to explain away a word-for-word copy of another paper.

Did you copy word for word? Or did you mix some sentences up? If you copied word for word you deserve to kicked out of school for being an idiot

If this is real and you're a U. of Arkansas-Fayetteville student, some level of stupidity is tolerated. This is a level one violation and you get a zero for the assignment, if this is your first offense.
