Pretty much did the same thing last year. It was colder than I thought it would be but we had a good time just seeing the shows and whatnot. You should have a good time, way better than the Carnival Cruise I went on

Never ever wanted to go a cruise. Went on Disney cruise against my will. Had a great time, much to my surprise.
Like others have said, it costs more but you get more--bigger rooms, good food, great shows, I don't remember seeing any Walmartians. No gambling, so if you want to do that, skip Disney.
The boat is divided into kiddie, teen and adult sections and kids and teens cannot cross into adult area. There's adult-only spa---fantastic.

15k for a 7 day cruise for 8 people. That's 2,142 a person for the trip, and 267 a night.

The food is good, the drinks are good, you will have shore activities.
Is it going to Castaway Cay? if so, they have an adult only area on the island.
They have adult only areas on the boats. A pool, spa, bars, etc.
Food is top notch with some premium pay adult restaurants as well.
Plus, you will be there with your nieces/nephews. I don't know how old they will be but I'm sure they will have some level of interaction with the characters. Unless you are just a cold hearted person, I'm sure you will enjoy watching them.

Big difference between people paying their own $2,142 for the trip and one couple dishing out $15K.

You say this, but trashy people don't mind spending money on Disney. It limits it, but they still have them. I find cruises wayyyyyyy too crowded. Lunch, Dinner, Pool, etc.. Disney was no exception.
But I have to say the adult pool and bar was actually nice and not overcrowded. I'm sure this is due to 90% of people on the boat having kids to take care of.

3 day Disney cruise can be done relatively cheaply. A week, not so much. When we went for my daughters birthday it was late February/early March. Found a last minute deal. 4 people in a room with an enlarged deck and it was around $1,500 total. They price by age. My 8 month old at the time was basically free. They’re not feeding him. Daughter was turning 6. We honestly thought it was a mistake in pricing and booked it, thinking if it was we would find that out and could cancel. It wasn’t. We drove from Birmingham and parked at a place with a shuttle to the boat. Had a blast for 3 days then drove home. Flying there would have been more than the cruise. The boat left on a Thursday and got back on Sunday. Drove back through Atlanta and stopped for dinner and to walk around some. We’d definitely do it again. Off season prices and booking late helped us out.

I posted in another thread about Disney Cruise. First cruise I ever went on was last year and absolutely loved it. I'm leaving for another Disney Cruise in 10 days. You will thoroughly enjoy it.
Book a couple nights at the adult only dinners. Sign up for kids club to come grab your kids after the family dinners. They will pick them up at the table so you can finish up with dessert and drinks without children!

We have been on a Disney and a Carnival. Carnival had nice ports of call and decent food.
Disney was a stunner. Everything is top-notch from the cleanliness of all the public areas. Even with thousands of people on the vessel weekly, nothing at all is threadbare or worn. Carpeting is bright and clean, wall treatments, trim, everything is clean and sparkly.
Meals, there are three different dining rooms and you rotate each night, but your servers go with you. The food is superior, even in the regular dining room. Soft drinks are included in your fare, no extra for non-alcoholic drinks, simply bring your cup to the bar or to the soft-drink station near the pool where the 24 hour food is (pizza and burgers, mostly.)
Carnival, we had to buy the cups then go to the bar to get anything other than juice or bad iced tea.
There is no litter, not even a whole lot of that sloppy arse water where wet passengers run inside like you see anywhere else.
Go. Enjoy. We would have preferred it, even with teenagers, when we went on the Carnival.
The "child-care" is really engaging, too. They are busy and not plopped in front of movies.

I think we spend $4500 for a 5 day cruise out of Miami. I think it was 5 day.... Not cheap, but not absurdly expensive. 2 adults and one child.

Dropping 15k on a vacation is OT baller. I just wouldn't consider a Disney cruise an OT baller trip. Really the only thing making this OT baller is the number of people they are paying for.

a cruise is the most unpleasant vacation there is short of just staying home, in fact you probably will wish you had just stayed home instead. kids are usually immune to the misery of adults so they might find a way to enjoy it

How old will the twins be? I couldn't imagine bringing infant/toddler twins on a cruise. You're one ear infection away from pure misery.
