Did the officers have a search warrant to enter the property/pasture? Any probable cause?
UPDATE: THe city released a statement. The officers were searching for a missing child. Still no excuse for killing a baby donkey.

Because of the nature of this investigation, neither the Cedartown Police Department nor any other city department can comment further on the matter at this time.

well, you may be correct in principal. But look at the deceased donkey. Is he capable of kicking you or biting you? Certainly. But he isn't going to kill you or even cause serious injury to a grown man. And I say this as someone who has been kicked and bitten by a fair number of equids (foals and adults). Hard not to have ill will towards the officer in this case. Just another stupid act by a LEO that causes people to have so little respect and regard for them or the job they do.

I just want the cops to live with a consistent set of rules.
If you not allowed to shoot a police dog they sick on you without being charged with assaulting or shooting a police officer? Then the police must also be charged with a similar crime for shooting family pets or livestock

“all donkeys are assault donkeys”
A friend of mine was feeding and watering a herd of donkeys while owner was in hospital.I went with him several times,donkeys never showed any sign of aggression.They were kinda standoffish,didn’t come up to be petted.
My friend said the owner would find a dead dog occasionally that made the mistake of coming in the pasture.
