re: GA police kill small donkey in his pasture in the middle of the night

My BiL raised a freemartin and kept her on the farm until she died of old age. He would put her on a heavy chain and tie her to trees around the property so she could graze and he had less grass to mow.

There is a state highway that runs through the farm. The state had some young juvies picking up trash along the road when one of them walked onto the farm to pee. The cow saw him and came running (she was friendly, but huge). He climbed up a tree to get away from her and she patiently waited beneath the tree for him to come down. He was an inner city boy who had no experience with farm animals.

When my BiL showed up, there were a couple of state police officers there and they were about to shoot his pet cow. My BiL picked up a plastic feed bucket, patted it twice and she ran to him, letting the young miscreant escape.

My BiL asked the officers why were they going to shoot his cow because their little miscreant trespassed on his land and none of them had enough sense to figure out how to distract the cow for a few minutes.

I don't think he recieved a satisfactory answer.
