Funny how all the servers disappear during Essence.

Went to Superior uptown with my son last night. They had only a handful of wait staff working the entire place. Friend of mine was dining with a client at a nice place downtown and said it was noticeably understaffed and slow.
The Essence sickout is real. Happens every year.

Is it all servers who sick out or just one group?

At least those places weren’t closed for renovations

They are missing out on a lot of tip money.

To me examples like this show that stereotypes are real. The servers/establishments want to make money. They choose to close or not come to work this week rather than be open and make money.
Just shows the shitshow they must be dealing with. The free market doesn’t lie.

And that's exactly why there's a shortage of waitstaff in restaurants------missing out on tip money due to serving cheap bastards that are notorious for running them crazy for next to nothing in return.

Because no one is taking vacations this weekend?

The lemonade will be flowing freely

Number of well established restaurants reduce number of reservations too

Essence should move to Atlanta.

Servers split because diners dash.

And a table of 5 will find at least 3 of them with gripes about how their food was prepared.

Why not just change your policy to have the tip included for that weekend, is there something illegal about that?

If they paid more there would be more waitstaff. It’s real simple.
There’s a reason there’s such a disparity in that industry. A few coveted jobs at the top where servers are paid well and then a smattering of abuse.
Let’s not get this confused, those servers are paid well for a reason. To be a server at a fine dining restaurant takes a lot of hard work and knowledge. But I just can’t be confused as to why nobody wants to work a server job when I see the BS the public throws at them coupled with shite pay.
I’d go live under a bridge before I was a server long term.

Then cheap asses like you would complain about food prices at restaurants being even higher than they are today.
Posted on 7/1/23 at 8:56 am to Odysseus32
Yeah, that is what it is.

The return these restaurants get for the investment needed for this shite show doesn’t happen. Close down enough places and it dissolves or moves on.

50 weeks a year NOLA is great but Independence Day and Thanksgiving weekends it becomes a shite-hole
