If I were mayor of any bedroom community I would ban new development of anything other than 2000 sqft SFH's that are on .4 of an acre.

That's pretty much what they've done here. A house can only be a certain percentage of the lot. It keeps developers from cramming SFHs so close together that you see in a lot of places.

Then again we don't have the same...diversity...issues that are caused by the type of developments this thread is about.

Found the real racist.

He assumed (incorrectly) all trashy poors are black. I don't want a meth lab next door either.

These are the people that believe some crime on the streets is normal. And having homeless people around is just part of life. And paying extra money out of your own pocket is a necessity mandated by the government.

But, that's kind of part of the troll question. His handle is even YIMBY as in You're In Mine vs Not In Mine. So, the question is basically, imagine being opposed to someone building something you don’t like on their own property. It also only says 'neighborhood' which can imply anywhere but getting hundreds of replies it has to be their utopian street. It's rather funny (to me).

People I don't like don't usually move into my neighborhood.
I don't want more or denser housing.
It generally means:
More traffic
Higher taxes
Less trees
More noise

Until this happens, I refuse to take these people seriously.

true Sao.

but unless my HOA (which i’m apart of) suddenly changes drastically. I can’t see it happening, thankfully. I cringe anytime i see a new apartment complex pop up in the area as is.

Used to work with this black guy who told me he couldn’t wait to get his money right to buy a house in a white neighborhood in the burbs. When I asked him why that was his goal, he told me it was because “you can’t have nice shite in a black neighborhood. They’ll steal your shite”.

There is a YouTube channel of a black guy in his 50’s who has moved from an area near a big city to a small town. His brother still lives in his old neighborhood.

He walks around with his phone recording what fast food places, drugstores, and grocery stores look like in urban vs planned community.

He shows stores with merchandise hanging on racks outside the door, etc. He says “you can’t have this nice stuff sitting out in my old area. It will all get taken in 1 night”.

It’s sad.

You have to prove that your monthly income is 3x rent in my apartment complex. For a 1 bedroom, you need to be making around 58,000/year to qualify. That does a pretty good job weeding out bad tenants.

There are some VERY nice duplexes in some VERY nice neighborhoods here so I guess it depends where and who is going to live in them? If they selling them instead of renting them, it prob would be ok.

If there was a covenant preventing section 8 or non-owner occupied use there is a path, otherwise it’s a ticking time bomb for the entire community.

Lifespan of a rental is usually this:
Luxury rental -> mid tier -> section 8 mixed use -> epicenter of all crime in the area

You want to see what duplexes turn into, take a google maps trip down to the end of Prescott road after Joor

Take a look around

I took a look around that area and what I find interesting is the lack of expensive cars anywhere. They must be true poors around there. Usually in an area like that, there are some high priced vehicles but I didn't see one that was nice at all.

The pics don't really do it Justice. At least a 1/4 of those homes are abandoned. Since the 2016 flood. It's a very depressing area. I'm sure the flood contributed to the poverty in the area but there are a hundred more like it, ruined and rotting.

There are some extremely expensive triplexes in my hometown. $600,000 a piece.

As a car enthusiast I don’t see what there’s to complain about, a fourplex is great.

One driveway, 17 cars (3 that don’t run at all) parked all over in the street.
