Anyone who is unsatisfied with their salary and looking for a career change should consider applying for a job with California fast-food favorite In-N-Out Burger. The chain’s managers, on average, take home an astounding $160,000 — which translates to 46,377 double-doubles — per year. That’s more than the average salaries of architects, lawyers, and software engineers in the Golden State.

Almost every business, whether you think you are or aren't, is in the customer service business.

In that industry, with those customers, and with that employee pool?

Good for them. They sure as hell work for it.

how far does $160K go in California?

I'm assuming it's like making $60k in Louisiana

Years ago, I was watching the news about this manager at McDonald's in St. Louis, MO. You know, Gateway to the West, a frick-ton of interstates intersecting. Anyways, he was the manager at the busiest McDonald's in the country. He was making $150k then. I wonder how much the manager makes there now.

Most overrated food ever.

Burger is good. Fries suck. I do not want an entire damn onion slice on my burger.

In-N-Out pays their employees really well in general so they mostly get young high school or college students, not the usual trash that works in fast food.

This story is 20+ years old. Their managers have been 6 figures since early 2000's. It's part of their business model to get what you pay for. They lured managerd away from higher end restaurants.

They do but they're not very common and I doubt they pay the same in states like Texas.

Cost of living in California is just that high, but that salary is still really good.

Plenty of retail managerial jobs pay a good salary, I think

It's the whole working retail, working with idiots, working nights and weekends part that sucks.

160k in Cali is still very good. You're not struggling.

Not on this side of the Trinity river, but there are a bunch of them in Texas (Dallas and places easily supplied from Dallas), Nevada, and I think there's one in Arizona in the southern part of the state.
