Burrow and scat ID request

Posted by AutoYes_Clown on 5/30/26 at 11:14 pm
After all this rain, some new things in the yard. I did one of these scat requests last year, was racoon then. This time it could be multiple animals. The two scats have me confused. One with burs, the other looks canine with hair but not my dog.

Residential neighborhood in EBR.

Burrow, Armadillo? Its difficult to tell but its deep, cant see past 2 to 3'. It is definitely oval shaped more tall than wide.

Dig spot 100ft from burrow

Dig spot 200ft from burrow

Scat 3ft from burrow

Scat 10ft from burrow. There was more and this is not from my dog. 6ft fenced area.
Cheers my fellow significant-aires

As it stands today, if every kid living in St. George switched to a St. George school, there would not be enough seats. Meanwhile, the rest of BR is operating at half capacity.

This is what I was getting at in my earlier post. Hundreds, Ill say thousands of current EBR students will need to find a seat in a StG school. There has to be a transition plan from both sides and why I am so frustrated with lack of plan from StG side who has had 10+ years.

Woodlawn High can not absorb the students over night or even after they band out of their current school. New school(s) will need to be built. Alternative schools will need to be a part of the system.
So this is us, two kids in EBRSS Gifted Program living in StG. We will lose Gifted if StG ISD gets approved. I am still voting for StG ISD because long term, I want neighborhood schools to return. I grew up (not in BTR) where home values were directly related to school system. Maybe Im a boomer.

HOWEVER, StG leadership has been completely fumbled this. Its almost as if they were so occupied with new found city they forgot why the city had backing to begin with.

As far as I know, there has been zero school system plan from StG. Someone please prove me wrong. There are a handful of elementary but two middle, Jefferson Terrace and Woodlawn Middle. Only one high school, Woodlawn High. I think in there was property slated for a school that was handed over to StG, down on Seigen. What is the short term plan? What is 3yr plan? 5yr plan? Long term?

From what I can tell, if StG gets ISD, Woodlawn High overnight becomes the most well funded public high school in the state.

Getting back to the vote. Im dumbfounded with StG leadership strategy. There are many of our classmate parents that are basically seeing this as a blind-faith vote. No plan, just vote and TRUST us. There is a lot of dissappointment in the community when there has been 10+ years to plan and campaign for this moment.
One of my therapies for Sknyrd is going down the Steve Gaines what-if rabbit hole. I have no doubts he was going to be one of if not the greatest Southern Rock giants. Gaines would have been to Southern Rock what Stevie Ray Vaughn was to blues and Texas scuttle butt. Steve Gaines could write, compose guitar, sing and play.

This is one of the most important live sets ever recorded for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gaines (goatee) vocals forced Ronnie Van Zant to up his game. The original band members were control freaks and didnt want Gaines for anything other than background guitar and vocals. Sound guys convinced the band members to let him come up front. This is rare with Gaines and Ronnie duet harmonizing and then incredible guitar solo by Gaines later in the song:

Look at all the Gadsden OTers coming out. My entire paternal side are Emma Sansom alum. Most now reside in Whorton Bend area including waterfront on the Coosa. I learned to hunt on Lookout Mountain and what is now Noccalula Park.
I think its time the OP is edited to reflect proper subject/title. There is no such option under RA.
Its time for the emergence of the St George Kingfish.
According to rumors, this isnt her first time either. Anyone in Bama have more details?

Has it re-opened? I know it had closed down for a bit temporarily.

I dont know of Chucks closing for anything other than seasonal. And it should be noted that most of these type places on Lake Martin are associated with a marina of some sort. Marina season and hours always differ from restaurant season and hours.

Most places on Lake Martin close for off season and dont open up till after Easter. Most start and end season with limited menu items. Staffing is difficult for them as well.

May thru mid September everything is fully open.

Damn you Fox. I think Im the only one who liked NBC coverage and commentators.
We have a lake house over near Blue Creek (south east) side. Like others said, water level is not an issue. Plenty of VRBO and boat rentals all over. One thing I would say, if you are renting unfamiliar boat or boat novice, look for a place with dock not on main water. We had family at Crown Pointe and docking is near impossible on busy holiday weekends.

Know you will burn some fuel in the boat, with rides to locations being 30mins to an hour. But that is part of the enjoyment of Lake Martin, just cruising. By the way, there are recent law changes which are hot topics and enforced. ALL bridges are now no wake/idle. ALL structures, piers, docks, shore is no wake/idle within 100ft I think. NO towing/skiing/tubing/wakeboarding within 200ft of a pier, dock, etc.

A few points:

Favorite Small Marina - Anchor Bay is centrally located, never crowded, straight in and out fuel up dock. This is associate with The Social restaurant. Favorite Big Marina is Harbor Point.

Goat Island RIP - is no more. Too many dogs and a-holes

There are A TON of hiking trails. Bring hiking / dry shoes on boat.

The absolute best food and drinks on the water is Landing at Parker Creek. Nice shaded are with pine trees. Beach for the kids. Amazing cocktails. Spectacular food. If you go to only 1 restaurant, this is the one. I would not go during rush hours unless you want to people watch. The food line can easily be 1 hour long during busy holiday weekend.

Chucks pizza is also great hangout, music, people watching.

Kowilaga is also a must. They also have probably the best free imported sand beach on the lake. You can dock, and walk around to the beach. The restaurant is no dogs allowed even outside. So it loses us as more frequent visitors.

Off water, Niffers is must eat. Best burgers in the area with nice outdoor activities/live music.

Still Waters Country Club has great Sunday brunch open to public.

Hoity toity purist local talk: Chimney Rock is techically a pillar of rocks on top of an island. About 500 yards away on another island is Acapulco Rock, the one people jump from. Please be responsible if you have people wanting to jump, use flotation. Also, you can not anchor or beach here so a driver must remain in boat while someone swims out to jump.

Island hopping and tree swings are popular. Because most of the shoreline and all islands are public property (or at least Alabama Power), locations of the best are highly regarded secrets. Just cruise, look for sandy beaches/ropes in trees. Note where other boats park and come back later.

There are several antique shops and boutiques in surrounding area popular to keep womenz happy.

Reminder: You are going on the 2nd busiest week of the year (July 4th being most busy). Prepare for crowds, long waits, choppy water, idiot PWC and boaters. While under way at boat helm, driver needs to be scanning 360 degrees at all times. Absolutely no drinking for the driver.

I caught 40" red last weekend using Carolina rigged 3/8 oz barrel and shrimp on #4 circle hook. It has become one of my favorite combos.

Maybe someone can help me out why: Over the last 6-8 months, Ive noticed considerable amount LESS hard heads and undesirable catch when Carolina rigging over jig head and under cork.

re: Ford F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L

Posted by AutoYes_Clown on 4/8/26 at 11:55 am to
This is my hill to die on: Ford 2.7L is one of the best Ford engines ever made. Dont trust me, go search.

The 10 speed transmission, not so much. Get early 6 speed or post-CDF drum fix 10speed. Its a big deal, rebuild/rebuilt job is $7k-$10k and wont last 30k miles if not done correctly.

The 2.7L nor 3.5L is what limits the F150, however the 3.5L does have a list of common problem areas specific to 3.5. But even then, most problems you will see are not engine.

The 2.7L can tow, its mostly the 1/2 ton part that limits it. My untuned 2.7 on 93 oct tows 7500lb GVWR travel trailer at 70mph in Louisiana, 65mph with slight hills. The only issue with towing is coolant and trans temps for steep hills which are easily regulated by speed. Even if I towed it 12 times a year around Gulf Coast, Im ok with 1/2 ton 2.7L. I do have supporting mods of max brakes, max tow, WDH, etc.

My first vehicle was a '68 C10 SWB I regrettingly sold in college 20 years ago. At the time, I had added power brakes, steering and AC. The popular thing at the time was swapping front frame from newer truck. Im wanting to say the front frame was similar from 67-89 with only differences being bolt holes. It was a way to semi-modernize the chassis.

Now, I think the popular but much more involved is doing full chassis swap with newer vehicle of same wheelbase. I think the SWB 115" wheelbase swaps ro a Tahoe/Yukon. I think it swaps from 1999-202x so you can get as new driving of a 1969 as your pockets and ability can do.

There several facebook groups and youtube channels covering this.
I have a family member that runs an in-home service company. One of the workers was in a home and the home owners miniature Dachshund lept off the back of a recliner and tore into the workers face. This was their 2nd attack by a miniature Daschund while in a house. My family member put the miniature Daschund on the company's "agressive breeds" list and refuses service unless the dog is outside. They are on the same list as Pit Bulls.

I didnt realize until after that they were bred to hunt badgers and be vicious with a mean bite.
I did not think I would see this in my lifetime.

DOTD Announces Permanent Closure of Washington Street exit on I-10 – East Baton Rouge Parish

Friday, February 13, 2026 at 9:18:01 AM

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces the permanent closure of the Washington Street exit on Interstate 10 in East Baton Rouge Parish. Work will begin on Wednesday, February 18, with nightly closures in place through Sunday, February 22.

The closure is intended to eliminate dangerous weaving movements and reduce bottlenecks that have contributed to crashes and delays, particularly from the high volume of vehicles merging from the Mississippi River Bridge. Removing the exit will improve safety and traffic flow along this corridor.

Work will include installing concrete barriers, removing signage and restriping the area. The ramp will be fully removed as part of the ongoing I-10 widening project.

DOTD received approval from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and ensured compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act prior to proceeding with the closure.

Motorists seeking access to downtown Baton Rouge are advised to use the I-110 South exit to Terrace Avenue or the I-10 West exit to Nicholson Drive/Highland Road exit.
