Even if you live in San Francisco or New York City, $160k/year is a lot of money, and more than enough for a single person, or married without kids.
The only instance when 160k may not be enough is if you’re trying to raise 2 kids and a stay at home wife in one of those areas.
Even in most parts of Los Angeles, $160k with a whole family is enough.

Why would you pay 160 when you could get a line of competent people ready to sign up for 90, 80, 70
Competent does not equal best. I've eaten their burgers and like some others are saying....it's not God's gift to the world. Good burger, but not head and tails above the rest. But you put a good manager that differentiates the whole experience from say McDonalds or Burger King and now it makes that burger that might be a little better seem as though it's a lot better. You want to be the best, hire the best.
Same with CFA. I personally don't think the food is amazing or anything. But you are going to have a much better experience eating there. They are paying more to give you that quality. But it pays off with lines around the block.

In that case the manager can only do so much about the food. They have to buy a certain product and follow a spec. If they are storing, cooking, and serving the product correctly then they are doing as much as they can. You can tell a lot by the management culture in the staff, cleanliness of the restaurant, and preparation of the food.

That's what I'm referring to. I think the food only takes them so far. The other stuff the management does to stand apart is what's important. Because I don't even really like In-N-Out or CFA's food more than any other fast food. But the experience is no doubt better.

Aboslutely. If Mcdonald's would adopt those practices they'd go back on top imo

Not every part of California is the Bay Area or LA county, you could live large on a 140k in many places here.

I ate at In-N-Out Burger in Tuscon, so I bet they are in Phoenix.

Olive Garden managers were making 150k in the nineties.
I’d also rather eat the snot out of a dead animal’s nose over microwaved Olive Garden.

Pasta isn't really something that microwaving would make faster...

Burger is good. Fries suck. I do not want an entire damn onion slice on my burger.
Every location I’ve been to they ask when you order if you want the onions on your burger. Every damn time. You can’t complain about the onions if you tell them you want onions

It's clearly stated on their menu they put onions on it. Just say no onions

I have a buddy that is the manager at Raising Canes and claims the same thing, $150k income. Has a stay at home wife and 3 kids.
His is a base salary and a small profit share of his location that is paid monthly as a bonus. He said his bonus can easily eclipse his salary at his location.
He's raved about the company for years and has tried to get me to make the jump.

I agree. It's the most overrated fast food. They have dank burgers, but I agree fries suck, super limited options, and you have to pay for everything separately. That being said, the way they market themselves is very smart. There's a reason why they are hesitant to expand. It's because all across the east coast, mid west and down south, people talk about In N Out but can't actually go, and People on the west coast feel like it's their thing, so it gets hyped up. But there are a lot better fast food and burger joints out there imo.

Which translates to $70k in California?
If only they had locations outside of California. Damn.
You do realize they now have a bunch of locations in the DFW area?
160k in DFW would be a nice living for sure

$160k is living very well anywhere in CA unless you're an idiot that can't manage finances.

Chik fil A managers should make that because that chain is run like a machine. No matter what city or state I've been to one in, they're fast and friendly. That chain has their shite together from top to bottom.
I agree with you that they should make that but I bet they make nowhere close to that. I read a while back that CFA owners typically dont even make close to that. I find that hard to believe but you also have to take into acct the overhead a CFA location has with the 50 employees they always have working.
