Speed eating is definitely one. Also, I am fatally early to everything - 10 minutes early is on time.

I still see every bag etc. in the road as a potential IED.

Military date (which is the best way) and the 24 hour clock. And gig lines. I was AF, so didn't get brainwashed like Army and Marines. Oh yeah, and I love military acronyms and the dark sense of humor.

This should be the case for any self-respecting baw, regardless of service.

While I have been out long enough that I can't attribute any of my eccentricities to the military it took me the longest time to quit having an entire conversation made up of nothing but acronyms and variations of the word frick. Walmart does remind me of the commissary though and occasionally I will mutter dependapotomus under my breath, partly because I love the word.

I would say speed eating as well...

not sure if this is strictly an Army thing, but putting creamed beef on scrambled eggs or an omlet (these days I just substitute sausage gravy over at Primos)

agreed.

I'm not military, but I absolutely despise being late for anything.

Speed eating, and I still fold clothes the way they made us fold them in boot camp. Hard habit to break

I'm always the first one to finish eating. Even if I try to pace myself, I'm still much faster than everyone else. I'm always 15 minutes early to everything. I still iron my clothes.

I did, however, get out of the military time mode.

ETA: and speed eating. It’s improved over the decades, but I generally still finish a meal well before my wife and kids.

If you're not early, you're late.
Incurable insomniac, never get more than 4-6 hours sleep a night.
Hyper awareness in public settings.
Military time.

You must not have many Mexican/Latino friends. Those people do not mean 7:00 when they say it starts at 7:00. They mean more like 8 - 8:30 so showing up "on time" with them hosting something means I end up on the cleaning crew.

I left the military with a fond respect for well shined dress shoes.
