The old standby Police Call;

If God didn't put it there, pick it up. If it can't be picked up, paint it.

Been telling my kids this since they were able to walk.

Have been out of the military for over 20 years and still eat like I'm at boot camp and I only have a few minutes.

Smoking was pretty tough but I did it. Haven't had a cig in almost 15 years.

Drinking was another but having small kids helped me get that under control.

I never pull close to the vehicle in front of me in traffic, especially when stopped.

This is so engrained into my mind I didn’t even realize it was the army where I started doing this.

This and rolling all my clothes when I pack instead of folding them.

It took me a while to convince her, but I finally got my wife to roll our bath towels instead of folding them.

been out since 1973, make a bowl of this at least once a week. Like it over anything for breakfast. Toast (shingles) biscuits, eggs, grits, etc, etc, etc.
Getting up early, 5am or so. Don’t know the last time a set an alarm, and never being late for anything, starched and ironed shirts. My love for aircraft.

You must not have many Mexican/Latino friends. Those people do not mean 7:00 when they say it starts at 7:00. They mean more like 8 - 8:30

In Miami, 2 sets of wedding, baptism, graduation etc, invitations are sent out. Gringos get invitations with the actual time. Cubans get invitations showing the event starting an hour earlier than it actually does.

I have to lay out clothes for the next day before going to bed like I’m getting ready for an alert. I can’t break the habit.

I was just immature, unfocused and trying to figure out what to do with my life. I did my time, didn't get in trouble and didn't do anything particularly noteworthy.

I cannot carry anything in my right hand if my left hand is empty. My first instinct is to ALWAYS carry in my left hand unless impractical, then I’ll balance the load.

I’ve been out of the military for 20 years but I still need that right hand to salute for some reason.

I cannot allow myself to be late to anything. I just can't. If I'm going to be late because of something that I cannot control I call, email, or text the other party immediately.

I still eat way too fast. Working on the flight deck from 5:30am-10:30pm you sure as hell couldn’t chew 32 times a bite. But the best habit I carried with me was the organization. With such small spaces to keep all of my stuff, I still keep everything at home and work neat and uncluttered.
