Corporate tax rate:
I'm sure the fact that the US taxes at a rate 50% higher than the rest of the industrialized world has no effect on American companies moving overseas.
This is why I laugh at Democrats who talk about raising corporate taxes to make them pay their fair share. Businesses and the middle class (top 47% of earners) pay over 90% of the taxes in this country, but all I ever hear from the left(especially the millennials) is that I don't pay my fair share because I can afford nice things. I work to take care of my family. I work to put food on my table and pay for my families healthcare. I shouldn't have to pay more than my fair share so that able bodied people can have the same things I work hard for by not doing anything.

Ford hasn't been largely American for a long time. Definitely well before this. Most of the parts that come into the assembly plants here in Louisville for trucks and such are foreign made. And it's not just Ford.

i pity the people affected by this but let's not make it something it's not. The simple fact is that it's too expensive to employ US workers and that simply will not change.

We sub out a ton of engineering work to India. It's a shame, but it costs half as much for the same shite.

And who do you think will ultimately end up paying that tax? I'll help you out, the consumer. I pay enough tax already.

Ross Perot was right.
"Perot is famous (among other things) for his statement during the 1992 presidential campaign that if NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was not a two way street would create a “giant sucking sound” of jobs going south to the cheap labor markets of Mexico." LINK

I mean, frick all the families that have built their lives and raised their families based on plants in their communities, using their labor.

This is what you get with capitalism. I'm a staunch conservative, but the recent shift from hailing capitalism to hating globalism cracks me up. When capitalism doesn't work in your favor, it is called globalism.
If you're going to support capitalism, as I do, you have to live with the good and the bad. If you want those jobs back in the US, make the US more competitive. That is the way the world should work.

Yeah, it's amazing no one gets it. At work, they were considering hiring someone for a 100k position. Then they realized they could hire 3 people in India for 15 k a piece and not have to give them ridiculous benefits and they can assist with other stuff too.
The answer is our industries must pivot. Instead of producing shite where we have no competitive advantage, we should be researching, developing and producing shite that can't be made in 3rd world sbitholes

Precisely. The ra ra dey took er jobs people cannot see the forest for the trees. Americans like jobs, but more importantly, Americans like cheap shite. The same people who rightfully argue that $15/hr wages are a bad idea are the people who think taxing the shite out of foreign made goods is some sort of solution. It is quite pathetic.

What do you do? I'm sure somewhere in this world of 7 billion people some little Mohammed or Patel or Bong Bo Li is willing to do it for less. Should your job go to them?
If they can do it better for less, then of course my job should go to them. If I can't outwork the competition that's my problem. And it isn't as though my kids can't learn something that works out for them, either.

Maybe its a business move...so far, Mexicans have been coming here to work. With the wall possibly coming in the future its going to be harder to get Mexicans in. So rather than move Mexicans in, they'll just move the business to Mexico.
In all seriousness though, Ford doesn't strike me as a company having illegals work for them. So on that note, frick them for moving the business. I don't mind them, but I've never been a ford guy anyways.
