From what I understand they aren't shutting down the plant in the US anyway. Just moving the small car production to a plant in Mexico and moving larger vehicles to this plant that was producing the small vehicles.

You guys can thank the Mexican drug war for their cheap labor.

Supposedly Ranger and Bronco. Bronco won't ever be built

The answer, in my opinion, is to tax imported goods at a high rate, while lowering taxes on american made goods.
Fricking idiot. You would make Americans pay more for shite across the board. Sounds smart

Likely most people who have a 401k owns a little of those.

Yeah, gotta have that union electrician to change that light bulb. Tell a teacher she has to take a proficiency exam? Fire a bad cop.
Meh. Not all unions are created equal (and certainly not even by state or profession). I wouldn't work in education without one for no other reason than I deal with far too many sue happy parents on a regular basis that will want your job if you hurt their baby's feelings or didn't coddle them enough. Legislators enacting ridiculous education "reforms" without practical applications to schools (i.e. see the increase in Special Education paperwork). And some districts are trying everything they can to put keep money in their pockets and cut teacher/staff contracts to offset costs. Nah, I think I'll keep my union.
As far as the OP and UAW goes, they're some of the worst.

Maybe Americans should start crossing the border illegally to find work.

Can someone explain to me why car companies such as Toyota, Hyundai, and Mercedes Benz can build cars in the US and be profitable, while Ford cannot?
Ford isn't moving all production out of the US. Only the small cars that do not sell well.
The factories that are losing the cars will be changed to produce more trucks and SUVs b/c those are what currently sell well.
This story really isn't as big a deal as Ford has let it become.
The cars that foreign companies build here are also the ones that happen to sell fairly well. Cars w/shitty margins are going to get shuffled off to places like Mexico where it's a ton cheaper to make them.
In many ways it's a hell of a lot better for everyone in the US for jobs that are going to get moved to at least go to Mexico over a country like China. More jobs down there equals a more stable economy which equals less reason for people to turn to crime or illegally immigrate here.

I like how you blame Obama care for this when it started over 30 years ago. By 1989, the GM workforce in Flint had already been gutted.
You are a myopic dolt.

And who do you think will ultimately end up paying that tax? I'll help you out, the consumer. I pay enough tax already.
Only if you choose to buy a ford. You aren't obligated to pay that tax.

I bet 1 Messican can built a Ford by himself in 100 degree heat in 30 minutes.

Should have seen this coming when Ford came out with the Fiesta.
What other names we thinking?
Chuntaro? Puente? Pesadilla?
Gracias, Ford..yo gusta trabajo, pero yo quiero mas dinero. Mucho trabajo y poco dinero es no bueno. El queso este viejo y putrido.
