Can't be. The ULL and LTU folks on this forum all tell us their respective schools are better than LSU.

If they don't have a football team they shouldn't count.

Harvard may offer spots on the team but they don’t offer what would be a true football scholarship.

Things may have changed recently but I’ve heard stories of players who would have played football there but they would have been tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket (in cash or via loans) compared to being at pretty much any other FBS or FCS program outside of the Ivy League or Patriot League.

Washington University in STL at 31 is a joke.

They are on par with any of the ivy league schools. Always getting a bad rap, because they are right on city border, and crime has been an issue in past.

Yep. No athletic shollies at Ivies. Have to get a merit based one which Harvard offers almost all of the kids that go there at least some money.

They’re very “generous” with varsity athletes these days. Their new push to make school free for everyone whose family earns under a certain threshold has helped here a lot.

Their basketball program has become legit competitive in no small part because of it.

The specific people I’m thinking of were quite a number of years ago, so it was well before the current “pay what you can afford” stance on tuition.

You mean need-based, there are no merit-based scholarships in the Ivies and a handful of other near Ivy schools.

Tulane was as high as the 20s in the 1940-50s and LSU was in the 50s during the days of Earle Long.

Absolutely.

No one wants their cow to be gored, but those institutions are solely creators of debt.

Is LSU really $46K a year!?

Maybe out of state tuition for a semester. I just graduated a year ago and TOPS pretty much covered my full tuition, which was in that 5500 range on average. Idk where they got the 46k from

No they aren’t, and honestly not that close. They are very well regarded in many communities but there are also tons of people that have never heard of them.

Being a top school has a lot to do with placements and it’s always gonna be harder to place people when you are somewhere like St. Louis and many graduates are headed out of state for the top jobs.
