According to this, LSU is #4 in the SEC in the most meaningful number in these rankings, early career income.

WashU places grads very well. Not quite as many FO guys at big banks from WashU as Ivies and M7 grads, but WashU grads sure as shite aren’t lacking for supremely competitive jobs.

More than a couple of the most capable people I’ve ever worked with came from WashU. Their financial engineering students are studs.

Based on what criteria? MSU was just ranked 8th in the SEC in another poll.

Different set of rankings genius. The ones you're referencing are US News and haven't changed much.

Yes this is true. They break it down a little differently.

US News has "National Universities" as a list and Tulane is #44 and LSU is #140. That's out of 312 schools.

This Forbes ranking ranks all universities, or at least uses a much larger criteria, which seems to be out of 600+ schools.

These are the Forbes rankings which I'm pretty sure aren't as widely used as the US News ones

Sure, but people aren't shitting on your career opportunities when they try to belittle a directional school degree, they're trying to shite on the education as a whole.

I stand by my point - the quality of education is effectively the same across the 200+ ranked schools, but the quality of student changes.

Of course not, mainly because they're unfavorable to nearly everyone.

When looking at a university, you really just need to focus on the actual degree program that you'll be completing. A #200 ranked university may have a top 50 engineering program.

For one- that’s bad for Centenary. There’s only like 500 students. And it’s pricey.

#2 as someone who has sent one kid and has another kid at Tech, that is way high. Full time, with dorms and meal plan doesn’t even get to 20k, it would take a lot to get up to 29k. I can’t see that being a realistic number that applies to very many people.

Tech is best bang for the buck in the South.

Good academics and modest cost for a degree.

Plus libs haven't yet made inroads. And the eyesore known as Wyly Tower will be gone soon.

That's fine. The overwhelming majority of people aren't going to school X because the think they'll learn more there than they would at school Y. An LSU degree got me in the door of more than 1 place where a UNO/ULL/LaTech degree likely wouldn't.
