This only helps the do nothings. The people who are capable of upward mobility as well as mom and pop businesses suffer

I don't think there should be a minimum wage, but I do find it amusing when people freak out over things like this. This graph is from 2023. It's worse now:

Any establishment worth working at pays above minimum wage. Even fast food. If you are a nice person with a decent work ethic, go work at Chickfila or Buccees. If you are lazy and smell like dope 24/7 accept that you will make minimum wage and go work at popeyes or the night shifts at Burger King

That’s nothing compared to the West Coast where servers make the full min wage.

I hire the staff at our neighborhood pool. I cant even hire a full staff of 14 year olds to burn microwave chicken nuggets in the snackbar for minimum wage. We had to raise the snackbar wage to $10 like 5 years ago, and we pay $12 now.
Nobody makes minimum wage. The market equilibrium wage is hire, and that is a good thing. We want the minimum wage below what employers will pay and employees will accept to prevent deadweight losses.

Yeah, tipped employees earn $21.30/hr in Seattle, while other surrounding counties earn $17.13/hr. Some places have established a flat 20% service charge that is automatically added to every customer's check. Servers are paid commission instead of keeping tips, servers and bartenders are paid a commission percentage on their gross individual sales typically around 10% to 15% depending on the restaurant group and are paid the $21.30/hr in addition. A server at a high end place can earn over $100K/yr when you factor everything together.
