Minimum wage increases, costs of goods and services in theory can increase, while higher wages and salaries remain the same. So you're paying more for the same things and taking a net loss.

They aren’t going to hire people or they are going to use AI/robotics.

All this does is decrease the labor force and put more people on welfare. Government price control never works.

I know hard core conservatives hate the talk of raising wages. But I made $7.25 back in my first job in 1997. It was above minimum then. But
It should be at least $10-12

There should not be a minimum wage.

The latter. You can't find anyone to work for $7.25, at least around metro New Orleans. Fast food places are starting workers above $10/hr.

States are free to do what they want....

But there should not be a Federal Minimum wage - authority is not found in the COTUS

bullshite —- what I’m taking about is functional spending power, the cost of wages is factored into the cost of goods and services. The reality of what happens is that over time all other wages go up to some extent that reflects the new floor created by the current minimum wage and increased costs that come along with it. People’s paychecks are larger but the functional spending power remains at best the same. Then in 10 or so years the minimum wage will move to 25 dollars an hour and the cycle will repeat. But outside of the placebo effect of a larger paycheck the bottom earners will have the same spending power and other earners end up with the same of not less.

Subsidies on housing do the same thing housing costs.

To the create your own value point - I’d argue minimum wage prevents someone from having the option to sell their labor for less in order to prove themselves to the marketplace or be more competitive for a job.
