I coach middle school lacrosse. I have a lot of kids who are burned out from baseball, or the talent gap is getting bigger and they see the writing on the wall. I practice twice a week for 1.5 hours. It's structured with two dads who help me out. Practice plans, drills that grow over the season, all that stuff.

The parents that are coming in from baseball ask sooooooooooooo many questions b/c they are just used to having to do so much. Practicing and playing all over with marathon practices. It's nice when they finally let go and get to just watch and enjoy their son play.

I guarantee there is no appreciable benefit to starting football so "seriously" that young. You can have the best technique in history but if you are 5'9 and 150 pounds you aren't making a decent high school team. I've seen enough of these jackass teams on TikTok to also know they aren't getting real coaching either.

This is where I’m leaning.

Guy wanted attention on social media and now he has it.

Our (middle school) football team struggled because most of the kids played on league teams and the school is academic magnet (meaning majority female). The team had one coach and not enough players for an inter squad scrimmage. One of the league dads volunteered to coach our team for a year after his son (the QB) transfered in. The guy brought in a coaching staff of eight, built a roster of 50, and dominated the public school league outscoring opponents 200+ to 6.

The non-school league culture is insane.

Parents stacking elementary school and middle school teams is the most bizarre thing I’ve witnessed as a new dad.

Don’t they know it doesn’t count until high school?

I mean that’s false… you might not make IMG academy at that size but we’ve definitely had kids that size start

Whatever happened to that Baby Gronk kid?

I’m sure he got cut from his freshman team in HS on the first day after he couldn’t finish the up-down station during county fair.

I remember watching a high school coach ask all the freshman to raise their hands if they played youth football. A bunch of them proudly raised their hands. His comment - “forget everything you’ve been taught”.

Lol. He’s a short, fat, kid destined for line in biddy football.

I wish I had a dollar for every dad who thought his kid was an all American when my kid played playground ball.
