This article should be a wakeup call for everyone. This isnt the flu. Its much worse than the flu. This is a serious disease that has the potential to overwhelm hospitals.
He’s an overweight person with asthma with what looks like smokers teeth.
It’s no wonder he needed ICU for a respiratory virus.

Why even publish a story like this right now. Doesn't spread any useful information and only drags down people's moral.

The guy literally has an underlying ailment. Of course he is going to have complications.

I’m sure you could find stories like this with a lot of people who face respiratory illnesses with underlying conditions like this.
Sounds like asthma exacerbated to pneumonia.

My wife, physician, just said this is going to be a major differentiating factor, preexisting conditions such as asthma or smoke/vape and age. Perfect storm incoming.

Is everyone missing the part where he said he has asthma?
That is a huge risk factor for this virus.
I'm glad he is better.

Half of the US has some sort of cardiovascular issue, 40% are obese, and a third are diabetic.
Each of those populations are larger than all of Italy.
What part of this is difficult to understand?

Obesity is also a major factor, and there are alot more obese americans than smokers. It could do some serious damage here considering how unhealthy many Americans are.
