I've got BF Goodrich, which is owned by Michelin I think, on my truck. I just put a set of Toyo tires on my wife's Chevy Traverse and they ride like a dream.
You can't go wrong with either one. But I have zero experience withe Firestone.

Just put a set of Firestone DESTINATION LE3 on the wife's Pilot. Seem to ride and handle well. OTD with a front end alignment was 1K. We are going to be trading in next year so didn't feel the need to Michelins.

Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack
best tires I've ever purchased. Includes Michelins.
Check it side-by-side to popular names and you'll be surprised.

They’re are intentionally only 4 contact patches between your vehicle and the ground. Those patches are what keep the car from hitting other crap you don’t want it to hit. For me, it’s not worth saving $100 or 2 especially when that’s spread over years. I have Michelin’s on 4 cars and Continentals on 1.
Go cheap if you want.

Continental, Michelin, or Yokohama are all I buy.

I put Toyos on our Camry and liked them, initially. So, I put some on my truck, and liked them, initially. Then one blew out on the interstate in the Camry. I replaced them with BF Goodrich. Will have to soon replace the ones on the truck. They only have 40k on them, but they are wearing out more quickly than the Michelins would.

Given the number of flavors of each manufacturer - probably stinkers and all-stars in each line-up.
Look through consumer reports and tire rack for their reviews as well. Magazine reviews rarely overly critical.
I Continentals on our Sonata 2.0T, Pure Contacts and then Contact Pros(i think) - was pretty happy. Good in wet and close to 60k miles on each set.
Had Michelin LTX MS2 on F-150. Rode great but not very good off-pavement.

Haven't used Firestone in decades.
I have Michelins on both Tahoes and they were great.
I've had those, coopers, Kellys, hanbrook and Goodyears.
Just stay away from BF Goodrich. I don't think they exist anymore anyway.

firestone tires are decent, it's just dealing with the actual firestone places is the problem.

Pay the extra money for Michelin. They are just an all around better tire.

The other interesting factor of replies here is there is not a lot of context. A new Mercedes SUV in perfect working condition will wear tires and provide much different feedback than a 1985 Lifted Ford Bronco 2 on clapped out Rancho shocks. In other words these threads always crack me up.

I just put Michilen LTX M/S tires on my Ram 2 weeks ago. Got it through Tire Rack or whatever the online stuff is where they send it to a local place that is pissed off they have to change your tires that you bought online. Paid $980 for them and $70 to the tire shop that changed them. Also got a $75 rebate in the mail. And yes they didn't seem happy about having to deal with me b/c i went through Tire Rack.
The Goodyear Wranglers I had before were shitty and barely made it to 40,000 miles. They looked terrible.
A tire is a tire for most people. Most people aren't going to notice a difference in performance or handling or anything else in normal day to day driving. What i want out of it is longevity, and a good warranty.
