Every adult man should know how to use a manual transmission. It is not that hard.

Among my old cars, I have three on the tree (1939 Buick), unsynchronized 3 speeds (Model A's, 45 Jeep), four on the floor (pickup truck).

My home towners in the late 70's had their own vaguely defined terms for shifting: slap shift (not in the modern sense), slam shift, crease shift (who the hell knows what that was), slide shift, etc.

We tried, with varied success, to master clutchless shifting.

First reviews (I have seen) are out, and they are positive.

So it's a poorly designed Rekluse clutch?

I had one in a five speed sequential box with one caveat, I tuned it so tight that clutch pedal had to be used. Coupled with tripled spring pressure, the only thing it would not allow was a total stall. Why? Locked rear end on pavement coupled with an engine with ZERO torque until 5000 rpm.

So it’s shift by wire instead of mechanical linkage.

Same way cars today have electric gas pedals. No mechanical linkage.

Not as bad as fake sounds on an electric Ferrari.

Can you imagine spending all that money to develop a vehicle, just to sell less than 100 a month nationwide? Insanity. They've sold less than 5,000 of them in total over the last two years.

In comparison in the EV market, Tesla sold 480,126 vehicles between April and June.

People like to make fun of the Charger for being driven by lug heads.

They aren't wrong.

But they were popular vehicles, kept the showrooms busy, and fit very well into the Dodge brand. Had Stelantis just not redesigned the damn thing, they'd be more popular.

This is only one example of many where Stellantis made some really stupid mistakes. The new Cherokee being hybrid only, the Recon being EV only, getting rid of the HEMI, then bringing it back, the entire Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer launch, killing the 300 Chrysler entirely, and not having a decent CRV/Rav4 competitor......all of those happened because Stellantis doesn't understand the American market.

I wish they'd let General Motors or Ford buy Jeep so we don't lose that brand. I have no confidence that Stellantis can manage it properly. I cringe at what the next generation Wrangler will be with these idiots in charge.

It's a safety issue with electric cars that if there's not some sound to them people don't hear them coming and will get hit. However, I agree some of them sound really stupid. The new cadillacs sound fricking retarded.
