Not unless you're buying some thinned out ghetto black friday tree. You gotta pay big bucks for a decent artificial tree.

You sound like you have lots of fun time with your family walking around the mall! Take those kids outside for some fresh air and sun picking out a tree.

Artificial with lights. Tree was up and completed in 20 minutes. I sat in the recliner the whole time and watched Gameday. Kids grown and gone but they have 'real' trees.

We had real ones. Spent good money on a fake 9 footer. I'm happy, the wife is happy, and the kids don't know the difference. Once they decorate it, the excitement is over. Fake for life. I'll Clark Griswald the yard next week.

Driving all over town looking for the right tree, haggling with the Yankees working the tree lot, and having the tree fall off the top of your SUV on the interstate are all part of the Christmas experience.

Broke down and bought one after Xmas last year. Retail was like 1k 
but was on sale for $299 since some bulbs were burned out. It's a beautiful 9' tree but damn those bulbs are kicking my arse this year.

I went to artificial. For less than it costs for 2 years of buying real trees, I have a tree that'll last 6-10 years. Pre-lit so don't have to spend time stringing lights on a tree. Don't have to water it and constantly sweep up pine needles off the floor.

When I was a kid it was a tradition for dad and I to go out in the woods (usually to an area that had been cut about a year or two earlier) and chop a few young pine trees (since fir isn't all that plentiful in Louisiana) for our house and that of other family members.
Since the Mrs and I have no chilluns and I've moved from the wilderness into the city we decided on a 7.5 fake tree a couple of years ago. We paid about $300 for it and it looks damned real and has lights built in. We haven't regretted it for a second.

My family grew up with a fake tree. We only went through 3 fake trees in the 25 years I've been alive, and each of those fakes were used by my brothers after they moved out. It's so much more economical and they don't make a massive mess everywhere.

I go back and forth. Fake Tree, real tree.

Did fake trees always as a kid but now like real trees. Plus I live in NC and can drive 30mins to an hour and cut down our own tree at one of the many farms. The wife and I make a day out of it and have an excuse to head to the mountains. We love it.
Had a mouse come home with us last year in the tree and other than the dog going nuts it was cool. Pulled the tree outside and my wife lured the mouse with a slice of cheese and I yanked him out by the tail on the other side.

I've had a fake for about 8 years. It's probably at its last year of life. Worthy investment. It looks nice.
