Buying a Christmas tree is something we make a big deal out of every year. We go eat out and let the kids go nuts at the tree lot. This year we said screw it and ordered a 7.5' tree off of Amazon. For anyone who's made the move are you glad you did? Am I unamerican for buying a fake tree?

We did and hated it. We got it because we had moved and wouldn't be in town to water it when we went to our parents' house to visit.

What's wrong with having a real tree?

After shelling out another 200+ last night for a tree I told my wife I think it's time to switch to artificial. She shot that down real quick.

Forget that, as a kid it was to keep the tree watered and I relished it, the smell of a good tree cannot be replaced.

-Extreme fire hazard
-Extremely messy from dried needles everywhere
-One time use for the same price as an artificial tree
-Smells
-Having to shop for it every year
-Having to dispose of it
-Wasting money every year for a tree that only has one good looking side

I really only had two problems. 1) my dogs drink all the water and the tree dies every year. And 2) we can never find the shape we want - tall and skinny.

I got the fake tree off of Amazon on sale for $75 so even if we use it once I can throw it away and not lose any money.

Fake Christmas Trees are starting to get me to hate Christmas. We have had an eleven foot prelit for the last 2 years and that this is heavy as hell and getting everything to light is a bitch.

Give me a real one that winds up on the tree lawn at the end of the season and I'm happy.
