We got tired of the expense, mess, and hassle, and bought a fairly pricey, prelit fake tree several years ago. Initially, it looked great, but each year, another section of the lights failed. It also takes up a lot of storage room.

Went to artificial last year due to allergies year after year at Christmas.
Lights were built in. After the initial 2-3 hours setup to get the branches right, all is good.
Stored it in an extra room. Hauled it out last weekend. 5 minutes and done.
Now gotta buy some pine scent and it's good to go.

I got tired of pine needles all over the place.
Got a fake tree two years ago. Glad.
I am saving money and it looks great once its covered in lights and ornaments.

If you get a fake one, be prepared to spend a few hundred. They sell several cheap ones around 100-150 that you can see straight through. I have had the same 6' pre lit for the past decade since college. I intend to invest in a good tree the day after Christmas online.

You guys are losers. Why even put up a tree in the first place? I get that cutting down a live tree and using it only till it dies is epitome of the America's wasteful culture, but at when will you guys ever just see that as wasteful?
It just seems primitive to put lights on a tree just to put presents under it. You guys know it's the 21st century, so put your presents under your 65" flat screen, like every other normal person.

When I was a pledge we were tasked with obtaining a Christmas tree for the house. We cut down a pine tree from in front of the LSU Systems building.

A good one is not cheap. Ours lasted 8 years or so. It's a cycle. We are ready for a real one again.
But the last real one we had we got ripped off. By the time we got it outside thre wasn't a needle left on it. Living in an apartment at the time. To prevent more needles from falling on the carpet I literally pushed it out the balcony door and threw it over.

My wife went to target and bought a fake tree yesterday while I was smashing brews at walk ons during lunch. Today I'm making her take it down and bring it back to target. Then going to buy a real tree. Fake trees are the worst

We've had a fake one for about ten years. We used to buy those that could be planted after the holidays but ran out of a place to put them in the yard. Personally I'm good with the fake ones. Easier and no mess. Plus when the grandkids pull it over (they will) it just pops back up without a big mess.

Coincidentally our fake tree arrived this morning. Took about 90 minutes to do the initial fluff, but so far I'm pleased. I expected some of the "needles" to fall off, but there was no mess at all.

My parents lost their home to a house fire years ago. The fire department never could determine exactly what caused the fire (but it was New Year's Day and I think they still had their real Christmas tree up). So they refuse to have any real candles burning in their home and only put up fake Christmas trees now. Can't say I blame them.

The same tree has traveled from Winnfield, to Tampa, to Tulsa, to NO, to Memphis, back to Tulsa, and is now in Hot Springs, with a move to Dallas and back in there too. Funniest part of that is the thing hasn't been out of the box since the 1st 2-3 years in Hot Springs.
Now that my niece is almost out of her teens, even my sister's family is ready to stop with the decorating nonsense.

We have a fake tree, but only because the place where we got our real tree closed shop.
I grew up driving out to Zachary and cutting down our Christmas tree each year. Still bitter they shut it down.
Real trees have their downsides, but are still better than artificial trees.

I buy a new one each year. After Christmas we just take the whole damn thing with ornaments and all to the street
