So, you really can check out of Facebook anytime you like, but you can never leave?

Sabi, just as an FYI, there's a difference between deactivating and deleting it.

I can't leave it because I never got on it. The older I get, the less I want anyone knowing any of my business. Old classmates? frick them. I'm in touch with who I want to be. Facebook is all about bragging and comparing. People posting food pics etc. I never saw the draw.

This is kind of like people who take selfies at the gym.
You know you don't have to publicly announce that you're quitting Facebook, right? You can just...quit.

Let me help you, delete the app and just log in to facebook.com every couple of weeks. App makes it too easy and kills your free time.

I had a buddy post to all on FB that he was quitting all social media. Not a week later and he's back on FB.

I too think social media is a bad thing overall. I do none of it and never will. I like my anonymity and plan to keep it that way. Why would I care what ANYONE says on twitter. So many people (Facebookers) spend many hours each day looking at other people's lives.

Has anyone been successful in convincing their spouses to ditch FB?

I deleted during the election and haven't looked back at all.
I've entered the part of life where college and HS Friends are posting pictures of their kids in Halloween costumes instead of slutty girls in a Halloween costumes.

You can't quit Facebook right in the middle of bikini season.

Good. Social media is the worst thing to ever happen to us
