Facebook is a toxic waste dump, and I am quitting it.

I got on facebook in 2009. A lot of friends and family were on it, and frankly I was sort of blown away by the ability to instantly connect with people I haven't seen in 20 or 30 years. Awesome!
But wait... It didn't take long to realize that I didn't miss most of those people, and I could go another 20 years without ever hearing from them. (FB has killed class reunions for that very reason.) I certainly don't care about the mundane details about people's kids or how much they love Jesus. Most of the people I used to commiserate with have drifted away. I am basically left with a screen littered with the sad lives of a bunch of people I couldn't give two shits about. Anybody else just walk away from it?
Social media is accelerating the demise of civilization.

I miss the days when you had to have a college email address to be on it and it was just used to advertise where the parties on/around campus were. Thanks for letting the old people use it Zuckerberg

Theres a couple of big differences between FB and TD.
TD doesn't have your employer, phone number, and copies of your friends and associates that they sell off to the highest bidder.

Facebook used to be cool when it was college students.
Then you got pre-teens, parents, grandparents... and it became really lame.
Haven't been on it in about 4-5 years. lol a bunch of old people on there bitching about their problems.

That is true. I'm not on facebook, but I see posts on here about people streaming live beating their kids, microwaving their pets, etc. All for Facebook attention.

I still have a Facebook but I haven't logged in since December. Everybody wants to flaunt their politics now and it was causing me to dislike people I've been friends with for years. I was raised not to discuss money, politics, or religion in public. I guess that's an uncommon thing these days.
