Check Facebook whenever you need it or want to. Have some self control. You are not a slave to it. There is no need for an "It's time for me to walk away" speech. This isn't like you're trying to quit alcohol or drugs.
You are being an attention seeker with this OP just like you say your Facebook friends are doing. Facebook can be a convenient website. You seem to be misusing it

After the election, I deleted about half of my so called friends because of their insane and very hateful political attacks against me fir being happy that Trump won.
I now have a policy that I immediately delete anybody who makes personal attacks.

Same can be said about the poli board, rant and OT - a cesspool of negativity.

Initially, I was amazed too!

But wait...
Yep. After about 3 months, I quit FB. Many people subtle bragging (most of which I guess are lies/exaggerations), and the flip side, some people go on crusades and/or air dirty laundry.

Social media is accelerating the demise of civilization.
It definitely gives a lot of unstable/insane people some sort of voice which they didn't have in the past.

The TD poli board is one of the worst boards I've ever seen in my life, and that's saying a lot.

Had my password stolen twice in 16 months so dropped it. That was 8 years ago and haven't missed a thing.

Classic attention-seeker move by not only starting this thread... but starting this thread, logging off, and never posting in it again. You showed those dumb people who use the internet!

I had facebook when it was still only available to people who had to have a university email address to sign up. It wasn't bad then. It was similar to posting on here. You can post stupid shite and only the people you actually considered friends, would see it.
You could go back and forth with each other and not have to really watch what you say, etc..
Then the floodgates opened then all of a sudden I was getting friend request from people, I knew of.. but didn't really know. Then there were who would post pictures and say things that kind of didn't really tell the reality of their situation. For example, someone who lived down the road from me at the time, would post pictures of her and her husband, kid... And she would always post something like "so blessed to have the perfect husband and perfect son", but recently she was caught with another guy (who she eventually married after leaving her husband). Her son, was for someone she wasn't married to, but the guy she was married to at the time was already his 2nd step-father..
There were times, in the morning when people are going to work, they would be outside yelling at each other "frick you, you lazy son of a bitch", etc.. so to then post something and say "I am so blessed" was just stupid.. So I deleted my account probably around 2009ish.. Never had the desire to go back. I use twitter because its a good way to get news and all, but anything else.. I don't mess with.

It's so bad .
There could be the most beautiful picture of a couple on their wedding day and their grandma would comment in all caps "BEAUTIFUL PICTURE BRAVES WON 3-1

FB has killed class reunions
I agree with this. There is no more, "I wonder what that guy has been up to the last 20 years?"
I wish something would kill my class reunion. I have one coming up this year, I got an email about it. It is in October.. It is a weekend deal. Friday there is something, Saturday night is the main gathering,, Sunday is like a family day.. Its a weekend during football season so I will not attend.

I am basically left with a screen littered with the sad lives of a bunch of people I couldn't give two shits about. Anybody else just walk away from it?
I wanted to, but I have too many pictures of my kids in albums and organized that way. Instagram doesn't allow me to keep pictures in folder and order so I couldn't go that route.
It's a political platform for the most part now. I get tired of seeing it. I'll glance at it if I'm bored here and there, but I don't really care about most people on there. Again, it's mainly to host all my pictures in an organized manner.
It's basically my own personal picture album between kids and vacations. I don't give a shite if anyone looks or not.

I am on it but I don't care anything about it, don't have a picture, use my middle name so my name on there is very common so people can't "find" me, etc.
Sometimes I see somebody wants something with a notice on the computer that I may not catch because my phone runs down.
I don't have any friends that post political shite and I don't so it there either.
all depends on how you use it
