Is there any preventing kids from walking a block over from the school and saving the parents an hour in waiting in line? I've never been in one of these absurd lines but always see them.
Teachers tryin to get some strange have been a problem as of late.

So they won't have to wait in line.

We make our kids ride the damn bus, but sometimes we have to pick them up. My wife timed it, and if you just come at the end of carpool, you get the kid 20 minutes later than the idiot who lined up 1.5 hours early. My kid can wait.

My Tony, Marco and Alexandra rode the bus K-11 (when they got truck/car) or walked. If we were picking them up anywhere and we were late, that waited patiently and didn't bitch about it.
Riding the bus is cool and much more fun than riding with most parents.

If you have a remote job and can work in the car, it's not a terrible way to spend your time.
Unless I’m traveling or have a meeting, I work from home. I have an alarm set for 2:30 on my phone so I don’t lose track of time. I’ll leave the house about 2:40, be in car line by 2:45 and usually back home about 3:05.
As for the folks who get there super early, I don’t get it. I guess they don’t have anything better to do. I’ve watched and the soonest the first group of cars get out is like 2:50.

Bad part is at most schools it affects the surrounding streets and it causes bottlenecks. Locally I know of 2 schools that this happens at. I've learned to stay away from that street.

School wont release kids til 3 and parents start lining up at 1:30 to wait in line so they can be first.
so when that side d is on point, they can still leave at 1:30 to get the kids at 3.

We live in the age of helicopter parents.
Most of these people would drop the kids off and never leave campus if they didn’t have other obligations.
I was just thinking about this and how different it is from when I grew up. We were walking four blocks to school by ourselves in first grade in Green Bay.

For me, it was bc my son’s school was at the far end of an almost 2 mile long school zone with 3 red lights within that distance. If I wasn’t one of the first cars out the parking lot, traffic was FUBAR’d for at least 40 minutes and my son would be late for practice. I would go about 70 minutes early and use that time to return calls, emails and texts I’d ignored all day.

I do this on the few occasions when I pick my kids up. They walk to the stop sign a block away from school and I never even leave my car.

This reminds me of a funny arse situation…
I’ve got 2 kids. Oldest one is in public school in Ascension. There’s a kid in the school who’s house is quite literally right across the street from the school and the kid stands outside waiting for the bus often and has gotten picked up in carpool at least twice that I’ve seen.
He’s old enough and could get to/from school faster if he walked. It’s hilarious.

The trick really is to show up 10 minutes after the car line starts. They usually don’t take the stragglers back to the office until 15-20 minutes after it starts and at 10 minutes all the Piccadilly parent crowd is gone. You just roll right up and out and aren’t stuck in traffic.

If they have nothing better to do, who cares as long as they aren’t blocking the road. The ones who block the road have a special place in hades. I was driving from one work site to another yesterday and was late because of early dismissal.

I don't work on Fridays. I had to drop lunch off to my wife today at 1 and there were 4 or 5 cars in line already.

According to the other thread, prob because they want to get settled and look at big black dicks on pornhub until 3.
But if the get caught they’ll be arrested and later found dead.
