Also, check out the female cop near the end of vid. Not too shabby for a copper.

That dog wasn't sure if he was supposed to bite a white guy or not. It took a bit of extra encouragement.

failure to comply. Cop kicking the suspect is a bigger deal than the dog to me. Dog did what he does.

next time, Joe Cool needs to do what hes told.

It depends. If he owned the home and was mistaken for a burglar, yes. If he committed an actual crime, the dog did not give him enough.

The dog saw it all as a big mysteak.

yep... cop (human) reacted as soon as the hand went near the pocket

I'd be willing to bet without watching the whole video that was just 1 of a slew of commands the officer had given this perp before siccing the dog on him

das a good boi (K9)... and looks like a reasonable use of force by the officer (human)

Probably was excessive (pretty obvious that the cop didn't want him to bite) but, of course, the guy could have avoided all this by not running from the cops and not getting up when they told him to.

Pretty clear from the full video that the cop had NO control over that dog for a little bit there or the ability to make him stop biting. It doesn't look like he commanded him to bite and it definitely looks like he tried unsuccessfully to get him to stop biting for several seconds after he latched on. But this is what can happen when you use an animal - they don't always do what you say.

Well considering he was already running from the police and was found "hiding" in that window well I am going with a good ending.

He was non-compliant at the scene, and had already ran so at this point he got what he deserved.

Negative, the cop was trying to get the dog to bite a non lethal area of his body due to the the guys positioning.

It was absolutely not excessive force as the guy was not complying and in a submerged position where the cops couldn’t know if he had weapons or not. They warned him multiple times.

I own and train with working dogs in personal protection.

This. The 'Monday morning QB's' on here have never been in that situation. It's easy to make a judgement after the fact on a video, not so much when you're in the action and the perp reaches for his pocket/waistband. It takes less than 1.5 seconds for him to draw a weapon and fire rounds.

Not talking about the video but more this comment; Comments defending the criminal like this are why certain communities will never ever move forward and improve their relationship with police in America.

How is it that almost every other group of people have little to no fatal encounters with police?

If the cop would have been shot, we’d all hear about how he needs better training or should have recognized the threat and reacted faster.

If he does recognize a threat and takes action on it, you get shitty comments like the one above.
