The original call was for him strangling his girlfriend or wife. Then got into a pursuit. At least two dangerous felonies. If anyone is going to get in trouble it will be the officer not the dog.

I think the use of the dog was unnecessary. if the dog was released earlier in the process to keep the officer from having to initiate contact, I would be ok with it. however, it looked like the dog bit after the criminal was pretty much incapacitated. I'll bet that hurt like hell when he started shaking that head!
