I recall the 90's is when our litigious society of everyone suing everyone started to take off. People have been suing people forever but it started to get ridiculous in the 90's, and has only continued to get worse.

Also, Scientology really took off.

Stuff today is nothing like these shows. Not sure how it lead to what we have today. Better or worse those talk shows were much more entertaining.

The internet requiring that nobody could call your house when in use wasn’t that great.

School shootings. I was in school 45 minutes away from Heath High School. They came and told our teachers and we went on lockdown.

My HS graduation was a month after Columbine and cops were packing AR-15’s in the hallway

Crime was the worst it's ever been but it was mostly contained to the parts of town you knew to not go to. Today crime is spread across an entire city thanks to the gov desire to spread shitty people across town and destroy the suburbs.
Man, is this not true.

pretty sure that was the beginning of the end of

Country

music as well

people say this a lot but I have never and will never understand or agree with it. It may have been a shift from the old school waylon/merle/conway/jones type of country music, but it was still good country music. Just in a differnet form. Garth, alan jackson, reba, shania twain, brooks and dunn, vince gill, mark chesnutt, doug stone, diamond rio, travis tritt, sammy kershaw, tracy lawrence, and on and on and on.

If you want to compare that old school 70s/80s country to what's listed above and say it's better...ok fine that's cool. But at least that 90s group can stand on its own as being still damn good and fun to listen to. NOW...compare that to what came after that we have now. The nashville bro country. Jason aldean, luke bryan, and several dozen other soundalike posers. To compare the 90s country to today's country is like night and day. I know waylon has that famous quote about garth brooks and pantyhose but man he'd be spinning in his grave if he knew what things were like now.

The areas around LSU and along Government Street are light years better than they were in the 90s, crackheads were a regular occurrence in the Kirby Smith parking lot.
