Had an uncle say that he was sick of waiting for his mom (my grandmother) to die and that he wanted his share of the inheritance right now. His 2 brothers and sisters took that very well. Was about 10 years ago.

About 25 yrs ago on Thanksgiving night, my mom and her 5 brothers and sisters and all their spouses got into a huge ugly pro-life vs pro-choice debate.
I mean screaming mean, nasty, hurtful things to each other. I thought a couple of my uncles were going to go fight in the yard at one point.
They basically made asses out of themselves in front of all of their kids. The little kids were freaking out. My cousin and I, who were the oldest at 16 and 17 actually ended up being the peace makers by shouting them down and getting them to snap out of it and realize they were scaring the shite out of the little kids.
After that they all did the boo-hoo, hug, cry and all that stuff. Apologizing to each other and saying I love you.
One of the weirdest nights of my life and I remember vivid details of it to this day.

For some reason, I can picture this exactly in my head.

A lot of upstanding adults turn into little kids when it comes to their siblings.

I was leaning more towards the screaming and shouting and her son yelling that his mom and sister were two of the biggest fricking bitches he knew as being trashy, but that's just me.

Once, on NYE, my dad was drunk as shite. We were shooting off fireworks with the kids. We wouldn't let him because he was drunk. So we go inside, he sneaks back out, and shite is exploding all around the grandkids and our cars. He's out there lighting up everything oblivious to his aim.
We had to run outside, get the kids in, and start moving vehicles out of the driveway that were getting bombed. He didn't give one frick.

one thanksgiving i cussed out about 6 family members (for) their open and blatant racism
Didn't cuss out my family, but I did ruin an otherwise fine Christmas Day by telling them the racist things they were saying were why they hadn't seen their grandchildren in three years. Really ruined the Peace & Good Will to All feeling that had been present.

I'd like to the percentage how many holiday arguments are fueled by inheritance/dividing up an estate.

Yeah. I know the son had been preparing shite for a couple days now. He's one of those guys who loves to cook and takes pride in what he does. I don't know what happened exactly, but I think maybe he took exception to them trying to do their own thing in the kitchen. Just speculation on my part.

Not personally, but a guy I worked with got in a fistfight with his brother on Easter Sunday last year, but that dude is trashy af
