Jesus, that's awful.
Gifts are such a hassle. Just spoil your immediate family and get a gift for your grandparents and be done with it.

apparently being an OBGYN in residency and not having time for anything else makes her unlikable. who da thunk being a physician is a bad thing

She's probably exhausted and already knows she's in for a good judging when she goes to those things, which might already make her not that interested.
Hey, don.

hell yes, on my Mothers side of the family, it was not unheard of to see a fist fight during the holidays.
I quit going to events on that side of the family about 5 years ago.
Last time i went, 2 fist fights, and as i try to leave, embarrassed for all of them, i see my mother literally fighting her Brother. LOL
It was a Redneck Xmas.

Best thing I can think of that qualifies was a discussion between my grandmother and my uncle. She was working him over pretty good (mostly stuff she wanted him to get granddad to do that he wouldn't) and uncle just lost it.
He starts yelling "Holy crap mother!" "Do you ever wonder why all of your children moved so far away from you?"
That had to hurt - because uncle lived in Guam.

Two years ago, my brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins from his second wife Mary Nell
Of course he brought his new wife Kay
Who talks all about AA
Chain smoking while the stereo plays Noel, Noel
