Ever known anybody that was so cheap that it killed them?

It must happen all the time with the cost of medical care that people put off getting expensive tests that their doctor orders because they don’t want to pay for it. An MRI or a CT where I am is usually a couple thousand bucks. How many guys say frick it and don’t get the MRI or CT that would have caught the cancer or whatever and saved their life because they didn’t want to pay for it, even if they could afford it?
The flip side is the situation I am currently in. I had something happen where the medical standard of care is, you order a CT, automatically, no questions asked, because the symptom I had could be cancer, but probably isn’t. Im like OK, I’m not going to not do this. I go get the $2,500 CT and it’s clear. I feel like a dumbass like I just wasted $2,500 bucks for nothing.
It is tough to navigate the healthcare system, that is for sure.

If it is not an emergency I do not go to hospitals. They are all about the money!!

Colonoscopy is a perfect example.

Most guys don't go to the doctor for a yearly physical even though for most with insurance it's damn near free.
Then they drop dead in their 50s and no one saw it coming

I was that person who avoided going to hospitals unless it was life or death until I was having constipation problems. Went get a scope even tho I was under 45, sure enough, stage 3 cancer.

My brother in law says hello from heaven. He thought just like you and ended up ate up with cancer from head to toe within a year. Just a silly back issue getting worse. I will stretch and take ibuprofin he said.....I am claustrophobic anyway he said...he lived 6 weeks post diagnosis.

Well I did, that’s why I went ahead and got scoped even tho I was younger than the recommended age.

Last year I went to the walk in thinking I had the flu so I could get tested and get on Tamiflu. Tested negative for flu but positive for Covid. The NP that saw me said that he was going to prescribe Paxlovid but forewarned that if I hadn't met my deductible yet it was like $1500 to get it filled. I was like for $1500 I'll just suck it up and take my chances. Felt better the next day, and even better that I didn't spend $1500 on that bullshite.

Medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
Most of the pills prescribed are toxic to your liver and/or kidneys.
Some of those medical tests involve radiation.
People always ignore the damage done by pills & tests that weren't necessary.

I had a cousin who “most likely “ was worth at least a million bucks, he drove old pieces of crap vehicles.
He died in a car accident when a drunk pulled out in front of him, I always thought if he had been in a new truck he might have survived.

A 40yo buddy of mine passed away when an infection turned into sepsis. He couldn’t afford to go to the doctor and didn’t have insurance. He was also one of the most positive people I’ve ever known. He died in surgery.

My health insurance through work went to an 18k deductible. My arms would have to be falling off to go to the hospital

My dad is 91 and has never had one. His brother has been dead over 50 years from lung cancer. Genetics are a strange thing

Since I never went to the doctor I had to cover my deductible so like a grand.
