Had she had a regular colonoscopy they would have caught it as a polyp. My mother may very well still be alive and on her way to 100.
She drove her car and llived life as she wanted up until the last 6 weeks of her life.
I have them every three years and they always remove 1-2 polyps.
The first one I had I dodged a bullet. A large polyp of the kind that turns to cancer was removed. The doctor was scared it might already have turned malignant. Had I waited another year I probably would have been in a battle with colon cancer.

I’m aware of a few people that died from colon cancer that did not get a colonoscopy for financial reasons.
In one case the individual really couldn’t afford it and in another the person was being cheap and waiting for a new insurance plan to kick in.
Either way people shouldn’t die because we as a country don’t value preventative medicine.
Jesse Waters on Fox just recently said if you’re healthy you don’t need health insurance or need to go to a doctor.

my health plan basically consists of multi vitamins + Ivermectin and mebendazole.

Don’t know anyone who is that cheap. Know a couple guys with stents that had one foot in the grave and were completely oblivious until they went in for physicals.

My FIL is going through treatment for end stage prostate cancer, he has 1-2 years left. He was just diagnosed a few months ago but never went to a doctor until he felt a mass on his lymph node this year putting his seatbelt on. He is 74.

It's not being cheap that will kill you, it's not shopping around that will.
ETA: All you have to do is ask your doctor for the doctor's order (1 pager on what imaging they want,) and text or email it to Green. They'll ask for your location and preferred scheduling. Pay Green, they send you a voucher you print. Show up, get scanned. Done.
I had a Barium scan done, I shopped around for prices. The clinic that originally ordered it wouldn't write me whatever order that Georgia requires for me to walk in to any scanning provider. I explained to the new place this, they said come on in and let an NP take your blood pressure for $80 and we'll write the order. Done. Saved thousands.

I wasted $1100 on a broken foot a few months ago. I had a boot at the house that a friend gave me the night i broke it and it was almost exactly the same as the one the dr sold me for $260. wore it for 2 months and then was fine. i was supposed to go in for one more "checkup" to get cleared for release but the other 3 appointments i walked in, took an xray, they said yeah looks like its healing fine, stay off it or wear the boot as much as you can, come back in 3 weeks.
so basically in 3 appointments they told me to do exactly what I thought I should do after the first x ray, stay off it, it'll heal. it's a minor break and it's lined up correctly.

Wasted $2500 bucks on one for my daughter once. I say wasted but it wasn’t really a waste - it ruled out a lot of things and probably saved us a month of other useless tests towards finally getting her diagnosed.

We I got Covid the 2nd time I was prescribed Paxlovid and while I guess it worked; it made me feel horrible also. The last couple of times of having Covid; I didn't even go to the doctor and just gutted it out like the 1st time. How I know I had Covid that many times is all of the free Covid Test kits we accumulated through the years. Still have a couple left.
