I'm from NOLA, and it kinda pains me to say, but no. I loved growing up in NOLA, but it has turned into an absolute shite show. The increased crime, obnoxious tourism and hipster influx have total changed it to the point where I barely recognize it.
Plus, I went through Katrina and would like to never have to worry about something like that again.

Nope. I only grew up 30 minutes away, but there's no chance I ever move back. Not married, don't have kids, and don't plan on kids. So there's really no incentive for someone like me to move back. Plus a 20 minute commute to work and a $40 Uber ride if I ever drink anywhere.. nah.
I see the reasons for someone with kids though. Good schools, quiet town, pretty safe.

Grew up in BTR, left at 20 years old and even though I still have family there and keep up with current events, I have no desire to move back. Too much has changed. Not all for the better.

I moved away. As my parents get older i feel more and more guilt about not being there for them. i do have a sister that lives near them but that's my biggest regret about not living in my home town.

-it’s too cold
-both my sisters live elsewhere, so not like I’d get to see my nieces and nephews more anyway
-most of my high school friends (that I care to keep in touch with) are elsewhere too
-my parents only spend half the year there, now that they are retired
-not exactly a ton of well paying commercial banking jobs there
There is literally zero chance I move back.

ha. I see what you're saying, but these things have gotten way worse in recent years.
There really aren't anymore locals areas.... everything has been featured or posted about to the point that everything is packed and unenjoyable...but I feel like that's a whole different discussion.
And I could remember being in high school being able to go out in "safe" areas of the city. Sure the crime was bad, but it was in certain areas. Now no area is safe
