Hell no. I don’t miss the small town nosy bastards.

I read the Natchez Democrat about 3 times a month, tells me all I need to know. No chance in hell going back.

I did, and I have.
Life ain't all about money, baws.
Sure, if I were still in Houston, I'd be making about 30K more a year than being in NOLA. But a lot of that would go to dining out, since who wants to cook dinner after a 60-70 minute commute home down the Katy Freeway?
My mom and my in-laws live here. They come to just about every one of my kid's ball games, school events, dance competitions, etc. They all still work. The kids get to see their family as often as they want. I'll take that over higher pay.

Nope. It was fun as a kid but the adults who live there are extremely negative people

I don't mind going back for a visit ,but I don't think I'll ever go back and live in my hometown. That may change cause life happens , but I am not trying to make it happen.

Austin is my hometown. Nearly everyday I wish it at some point. I'm surrounded by lazy Frenchmen, and euro pansies.
However, I'm sure when I do move back, I'll miss what I don't have. Grass is always greener.

Those that have moved away from the town that you grew up in, do you ever have the desire to move back?
All the time, but I'm living in an awesome place, its just the complete opposite world.

If so, where'd you grow up and what are the reasons? Family? Want to raise a family in the same schools and neighborhoods you were raised in? Simplicity and comfort?
I grew up in Jax Beach, FL. Family and best friends are there, I miss the water, and its way cheaper than anywhere I've lived in, in Colorado. Also miss the college football culture in FLA.

What's keeping you? Job?
I want to be here in Colorado right now. Im in my mid twenties. I'm starting my career, getting great experience, having fun snowboading and enjoying Rocky mountains. Great music scene, great bar scene, weed is legal, but I'm playing a young mans game right now. When I start getting older I want to move back, save money, start a family, settle down where the green grass grows and its warm 11 months out of the year.

Yes, and I am moving back soon.
Where: Hammond
Why: the town is growing with a booming little downtown area. You're less than an hour away from New Orleans and Death Valley, but you don't have to deal with the traffic on the regular basis. Cost of living is much cheaper as well.

Retired. I can live anywhere I want. I like it here in Houston and plan to stay for a good while longer. I would never consider going back to BR. If we ever move it will probably be to Niceville.

No way. My hometown is too far from the Maple Leaf

Here's a picture of the spread:
From the house in top right all the way to the roads. Also, another 200 acres about 3 miles from the main house.
Swimming pool, two stocked ponds, and a fifty foot wide Creek (roughly 5-6' deep) with water year around. I guess the plan is to harvest lumber, establish an orchard, and raise cattle. Our son will be going to private school.

Grew up in a suburb of BR, have zero desire to move back. Because of the small town mentality as well as my family. Love them but being across the country is better for boundaries or they would be all up in my business. You also don't realize how bad the roads and drivers are in Louisiana until you don't live there anymore.
I will be visiting later this year and I am already dreading it. Only thing pushing me through is that I haven't been back in a few years and my grandparents are in their nineties.

It's amazing how many people eventually end up where their roots are.

Nope. I only grew up 30 minutes away, but there's no chance I ever move back. Not married, don't have kids, and don't plan on kids. So there's really no incentive for someone like me to move back.
I think we grew up in the same town. We considered moving back to avoid paying private school tuition but ultimately decided against it. If we had more than one kid we would have probably more strongly considered it.

I moved from St.Louis to Satellite Beach, Ocean was great, but i got bored quickly. Moved back asap.
Any sporting event was 3 hours + away.
It takes me 11 minutes to get downtown to see hockey/baseball,etc. And i live in the Burbs, so i have best of both worlds.

From BR
I don't have the desire to visit there ever again much less ever move back.
The one silver lining of the 2016 flood is that now I never have to make my obligated trips to BR to visit my parents at least once every 2-3 years...they now live 30 minutes from me in AZ. And considering all the ongoing health issues with my dad...I'm very glad I don't have to ever consider moving back to be closer to help care for him.
