Hey Nurse. How are your parents adjusting to the move? I don't think I could have ever gotten my parents to leave BTR.

I was raised in Mandeville and in Golden Shores (Lewisburg). I would love to go back but only if I could go back in time to the way it was. It was a wonderful place to live.

There is nothing to go back to. St Tam has been ruined forever by all of the New Orleans transplants and all that they brought to forever change the town and not in a good way.

Mom, brother, and sister...LOVE it out here and have adjusted just fine. My mom now has 2 sisters that live here as well so I know she is happy to see them more.

My dad....that's a different story. He is dealing with severe anxiety issues. He misses LA. At 69, he thought he would die there. He just doesn't do well with any change in general though(his personality). His mental health issues is an ongoing battle. I had no idea how bad it was until after he had been here for several months. Looking back he has always been an anxious person in general but I think the flood and move was the breaking point for him.

That's great. It's definitely a scenery change and a lot of other things as well.
I have read about your Dad's health issues in the past and that is why I asked. I think he and my Dad shared a lot of the same traits. You know more about how to deal with his situation than I can tell you other than keep him involved and occupied.

Would never go back. Grew up in Lafayette and it was a great place to grow up. I had a lot of friends and was very involved in HS activities, not so much in college. But for the 16 years I lived there I never felt rooted to the place. I always knew I would not make my home there and haven’t. For me, it was a good decision.

I think id love to, have land there to fight relatives over, etc. No way my current wife would go, either. Would love for my children to grow up like me, free feign on about 1000 acres, farm work, hunting, fishing, but doesnt seem possible now.

Considering it now. Parents getting older, slower pace of life, etc.

I love my hometown. Not too big, not too small. If I could make the same there as dallas I’d buy some land and move in a heartbeat.

ustin is my hometown. Nearly everyday I wish it at some point. I'm surrounded by lazy Frenchmen, and euro pansies.

However, I'm sure when I do move back, I'll miss what I don't have. Grass is always greener.

La France me manques. My dream would be to live there 6 months and here 6 months. Been thinking about going back.

I did. I love it. All of my family lives here but one sibling and his family is not that far away. My family is together often and old friends. The little kids are getting terrific family relationships. Wouldn’t consider anywhere else even though it’s a bit small.

Sure do...back when I was in college, one of my professors told me that the homing instinct was strong when you get to be a little older....he was right.

My home town catches a good bit of flack on here....but it is home. I was born there and I will die there. I will absolutely move back there one day.
