Not south.

On the contrary, traffic going south will be minimal.

OP said nothing about avoiding the hurricane.

About 80% of the people that evacuate don't even need until possibly after the storm. And it cloggs up the roadways for the people that actually need to evacuate.

Houston has a simple plan. LSU fans will take I 10 East. UT fans will take 290 West. Aggie fans will take loop 610.

Contrary to popular belief, the best route is to go north.

For whatever reason, everyone goes east or west.

Do you see the sign, Rib Tips? Well, frick that, you don't want to go that way.”

You go half a block down the street......and you'll see a Torino with no wheels on it. Inside that Torino is my cousin, Jackie.Tell him that you're my boy, and that you're lost. He'll make sure you get where you're going. You don't want to know from me. I'm not from this neighborhood. I'm from the west side of Chicago, here on vacation

My personal philosophy is to run right at it. In a boat. You will be the only one going that direction. Zero Traffic.

In the exact opposite direction of the coast, the earlier the better.

The best way to avoid traffic during evacuations for hurricanes is to evacuate early.

The traffic is caused by everyone waiting till the last minute.

Depends on where you are, where the storm is, where the storm is heading, and where you were able to find a place to stay.

I normally head towards the place I'll be staying.
