Where in Croatia?
Istria, around Porec. Nothing to brag about. Two small houses we rent out for short term. It is beginning to fall apart like Airbnb did here.
Looking around Vsar and Zminj for our retirement place now.

When you learn that Rome, which is very southern for Europe, is it about the same latitude as Chicago you begin to realize that Europe is way north. I would bet a lot of Canada. Doesn't have air conditioning either.

You know Google is quick and free.

Europe is old as shite compared to here. Buildings are constructed in a way that lends to keeping the interior warm during the long winters. Not as many wood frame buildings like you see here. People are just different over there too. They’re not used to a/c so they just go about it and wait for it to cool down.

Yeah but the Gulf Stream makes Europe warmer at more northern latitudes than North America.

Part of the problem especially in places like Paris London, and most of Germany is that overall the general population doesn't see an overwhelming need. You can have a 3 week period of hot weather followed by highs in the lower 70's upper 60s through September, then the weather gets markedly cooler. In places like central and southern Italy, you are talking about poor areas, but also really old architecture so no way a central unit could be installed. But a lot of places like Basilicata in Southern Italy can have high in the upper 80's during the day but then the low 60's at night or really after 5 pm because of the mountains.
But Spain is horrendous in the summer unless you are down by the coast(s) . The interior is semi arid almost like SoCal. People there though are resistant to purchasing the Mitsubishi types that don't need to be windows units. They are hardheaded about it.

Europe experiencing a “heat wave” every year.

30 degrees celsius = 86 degrees fahrenheit
Weak bitches. What else do you expect from soft people who don’t play real football. We just built different here in Bunkie

Creature comforts allow people to live longer……….who knew?

I get that they don't need it too often, but why not buy a window unit for the occasional heat wave? They're like $300.
I don't know much about window units, but I'm sure they don't buy regular units out of some climate change abstinence to save the world.

You know, I think one of the reasons Americans are fatter on average than Europeans is the fact that we're more often refrigerated. I'd sweat it all away sitting if I didn't have A/C.

I stayed in Paris a decade ago and I stayed 6 days in a nice Airbnb In Paris ending 11 days of travel in Europe. This was in July when they had record temps. It was hot AF. City officials turned on fountains and allowed people to play in the fountains that would usually have been off limits. They need to get A/C.

I'll bet Greta Thunberg's eyes are rolling back in her head.

we were in Paris in late June in'22. Our old-ish apt had A/C. we left temps of 100 in the South, so anything felt fine there.
Was in Cambridge UK in '23 when temps were 92. brutal. BUT the modern hotel had A/C so no biggie.
