BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The head of the Public Service Commission told WAFB he has directed the agency to investigate claims of Entergy bills nearly doubling.
WAFB and the Public Service Commission have received numerous complaints about bills spiking for the month of December.

“What we want to investigate is, is this atypical, is there a glitch, let’s find out why. I think people just want to know why and if they are ever over charged they get their money back, and that’s what we make sure of,” said Dr. Craig Greene, who heads the commission.

Entergy can do whatever they want. Its not like people can switch utility providers.

Meh...they read the meters electronically and bill whatever you use....and their rates are set by the public service commission who the citizens of the state elect. Don’t look for a big deal out of this.

The good ole "Fuel Adjustment" charge. It's usually natural gas that spikes in December.

There is no evidence of fraud, therefore no harm caused, therefore these customers have no standing.

People weren’t working from home last winter and/or were away from their homes much more often. Spending the holidays at home does this. End of story.

Fewer large gatherings with family, less travel for vacation, less time out to a movie or a bar. Y’all get the idea.

Even something as simple as decorating your house a week or two early can have a big effect. I saw a ton of that this Christmas.

The representative also told WAFB customers could be seeing higher bills due to the new digital meters, adding the old analog meters would often read lower than the actual consumption.

My Dec. bill doubled the last 2 mths combined. During last summer's heat wave, when my a/c was run more than usual, this Dec. bill tripled that mth's. Actual useage as claimed by Entergy does not come close to covering this big of a discrepancy.

I have DEMCO and am very satisfied with them. I’ve lost power three times in the past five years. I had Entergy for five years before that and lost power once every few months.

DEMCO is definitely light years ahead of Entergy in my experience.

I don't have Entergy, utilities are ran by the city where I live.

I have a 2,000 sq ft house and my power, water, and sewer are usually around $70 a month.

Ya'll jealous?

Ah yes. We were actually getting a deal before. This is what we could've been paying the whole time. We should be thanking them really.

I’ve got a crazy idea, have the PSC collect random samples of old style and new meters so an independent lab can verify their accuracy or lack thereof. It’s not rocket science.

Entergy Nola is regulated by the city.

So your city may just be better than Nola.
